What You’ll Own

The VP, Corporate Controller reports directly to the CFO, providing additional support to executive team members, as directed, to ensure that company goals are achieved and business operations run smoothly and efficiently. The successful candidate proactively maintains and refines financial and operational processes and internal controls that support the Company’s organic and inorganic growth goals.

The VP, Corporate Controller will be responsible for and manage all financial accounting and operations for Kinective, including treasury/cash management and income taxes. This role will direct all accounting operations, including internal and external GAAP financial reporting, financial operations (billings, accounts receivable, accounts payable, sales taxes, expense reporting), and lender reporting and compliance.

The VP, Corporate Controller will also own the relationship with external auditors, taking responsibility for the overall audit engagement process, including consolidated and statutory reporting requirements. This role will also support the evaluation and recommendations of new accounting pronouncements, system implementations, and proposals specific to revenue growth and cost/expense management. This role is critical to the growth and success of our business and requires a proactive professional to grow and improve the finance team.

CFO, CEO, Finance & Accounting team, Executive Leadership team (ELT), External Auditors, Lenders, Outside Professional Services Providers, and Kinective Employees

Duties

  • Lead a team of 8 with all aspects of GAAP accounting and reporting, ensuring all team members are performing and have the required skill level to succeed in their roles
  • Set the annual finance strategy and direction of the group alongside the CFO and Director, FP&A
  • Work closely with FP&A director and key functional leadership to manage detailed budgets
  • Implement finance strategies and processes through effective management and delegation to the finance and accounting team
  • Manage all financial accounting, internal controls, and financial operations processes ensuring compliance and a high level of accuracy:
  • Recommend new and/or improved accounting and reporting policies and practices
  • Research, monitor, and implement technical accounting developments
  • Oversee all accounting policies, including revenue recognition
  • Develop and maintain a sound accounting control environment
  • Prepare and review of monthly financial statements, ensuring these evolve with the changing requirements of the business
  • Manage and coordinate completion of all state and federal taxation and compliance reporting on a timely basis
  • Ensure the company passes all required audits and the audit process is managed smoothly for minimal disruption to the team and business
  • Lead project management of any required finance projects, ensuring on time and on budget completion, including M&A diligence and integration
  • Drive process improvements, including moving from an existing outsourced accounting model to reduce month-end closing timelines and improve analytics related to budget variances, revenue recognition and deferred revenue waterfalls
  • Manage corporate insurance policies and renewals

Key Performance Indicators

  • Accuracy and timeliness of reporting delivered on a consistent basis
  • Effective strategic advice and support provided to the CFO and ELT
  • All audits and compliance requirements achieved without exception
  • Systems implementations/integrations and other finance and accounting projects delivered on time and on budget

Requirements

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of relevant work experience with comprehensive understanding of US GAAP
  • MBA/MS in Finance/Accounting preferred
  • CPA or Chartered Accountant from Big 4 or large regional firm preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the software industry, including experience with both perpetual and subscription licensing models
  • International experience a plus
  • Proven ability in developing systems, improving processes and procedures, and increasing the efficiency of financial reporting systems
  • Strong ability to develop reports and analyze large data sets using Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP systems
  • Ability to travel on a periodic basis

Office Expectations: This role is HYBRID, with an expectation of 4 days a week in-office. Our hours are 8-5pm.

Consideration will be made for a remote arrangement depending on qualifications and circumstances, but there will be the expectation to be in the main headquarters on a regular basis. Flexibility is required to work outside normal office hours when the need arises.
