Description
The Resource Center Operations Coordinator is responsible for the daily management and coordination of a dynamic Resource Center serving men and women receiving support services at City Mission of Schenectady. This role plays a vital role in supporting clients navigate pathways toward personal growth, skill building, and employment. The ideal candidate brings a blend of strong organizational skills, technical workforce development knowledge, and deep sensitivity to the complex needs of our community members.

The ideal candidate brings a blend of strong organizational skills, technical workforce development knowledge, and deep sensitivity to the complex needs of our community members.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Case Coordination
- Conduct one-on-one intakes with clients seeking workforce and personal development support.
- Identify individual goals and match them to appropriate services and resources.
- Create action plans tailored to each client’s workforce readiness and development.
- Schedule appointments with volunteers, employment coaches, partner agencies, and partnering employers.
- Provide clear and relevant information on clients’ needs and status to partner agencies providing services while maintaining confidentiality.
- Support clients in all aspects related to fulfilling requirements to apply for training and/or employment, as well as relevant communications with support agencies and potential employers.
- Track appointments statuses, monitor client follow-through, and conduct timely follow-ups.
- Send daily updates and reminders to clients and relevant City Mission departments.
- Coordinate, publish, and communicate the Resource Center’s monthly calendar of services and events in a timely manner.
- Collaborate seamlessly with our Foundational Skills (literacy) support services, as an integral part of the Center’s support services.
- Schedule and support Resource Center volunteers based on client needs and availability.
- Maintain up-to-date information across communication channels and daily operation platforms accessed by staff and volunteers involved in the Resource Center operations.
- Be a direct contact between the Center and partner organizations in the coordination of services for our clients, while building continued rapport.
- Manage scheduling of spaces and services based on nature of meetings, technology needed, and privacy needs.
- Coordinate and, as needed, facilitate workshops relevant to clients’ needs (e.g. personal development, skill and/or workforce resource access, or technical skills).
- Collect, analyze, and communicate relevant metrics on services provided by the Center.
Qualifications:
Technical & Organizational Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant post-secondary education.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in human services, community outreach, or a related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in personal development, academic/trade training, and workforce best practices in the workforce.
- Proficient in resume writing, job search, coaching, and employment services.
- Knowledge of local workforce development agencies and educational resources.
- Strong collaboration and partnership skills.
- Excellent coordination and planning skills, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency with:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, common MS applications)
- Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, common Google applications)
- Videoconferencing tools (Zoom)
- Job search engines such as Indeed or others
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with individuals impacted by trauma, incarceration, addiction, homelessness or housing instability.
- Culturally aware and respectful of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Adaptable and responsive in a fast-paced, evolving environment with dynamic client needs.
- Prior experience working in human services, workforce development, or case management.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) or multilingual (preferred but not required).
- Experience in a shelter or transitional housing setting.
- Current hours of active operation: Monday-Thursday, 9 am – 3pm, some Friday mornings for planned workshops.
- Ability to be present at City Mission’s campus in Schenectady.
