Description

Shive-Hattery’s technology team seeks a Project Manager with a background in managing a variety of technology projects, particularly in ERP systems, application development, and IT infrastructure initiatives. This role will focus on managing the request backlog, gathering business requirements, defining project scope, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within scope. Additionally, this person will be responsible for setting clear expectations with stakeholders and ensuring effective communication of updates and delays.

The IT Project Manager will work closely with technical teams and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between business needs and technical solutions, as well as to ensure that all projects and initiatives are delivered in a structured and efficient manner.

This highly rewarding position requires an appreciation of teamwork, a passion for continuous improvement, a business mindset, and the ability to bring the best out of team members, both internal and external.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the ERP system enhancement backlog, ensuring all project requests are properly documented, prioritized, and communicated.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to gather clear and actionable requirements for enhancements, projects, and system improvements.
  • Collaborate with system administrators and developers to define project scope, timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables. Provide accurate effort estimates, cost/benefit analysis, and define achievable timelines.
  • Establish clear communication channels with stakeholders, ensuring regular updates on project status, changes in scope, delays, and key milestones.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve internal project management processes, helping streamline workflows and enhance overall team productivity.
  • Proactively identify risks and obstacles that could impact project timelines or quality. Work with the team to mitigate risks and resolve issues promptly.
  • Ensure consistent and transparent communication within the IT team and with business stakeholders, keeping everyone informed of progress, challenges, and updates.
  • Track project progress, prepare status reports, and provide clear documentation on project performance, including post-project evaluations and lessons learned.
  • When applicable, collaborate with external vendors for system integrations or development work, ensuring deliverables meet expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in project management, ideally within an IT or software development environment. Experience with ERP systems is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing complex IT projects and working in cross-functional teams
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or Hybrid approaches).
  • Excellent ability to gather business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver solutions.
  • Strong experience with backlog management, prioritization, and scope management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficient in project management software tools (e.g., Asana, Microsoft Project, Jira, Trello, etc.).
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or Scrum Master certification is a plus, but not required.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Deltek Vantagepoint, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar) and application development processes.
  • Experience in managing or coordinating IT infrastructure, business application development, or systems integrations.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence without authority.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to see the big picture.
  • Strong ability to manage stakeholder expectations, set clear priorities, and handle competing interests.
