Classification: Seasonal Intern. This internship is eligible for college credit. A stipend will be provided for hours worked beyond required academic credit hours.
Position Summary
The Event Operations Intern will have the opportunity to learn about the history, culture, and vision of Tampa Bay Sun FC, understanding the importance of how a professional sports organization works (which could include sales, marketing, public relations, operations, or the internal working of the Club), to further develop general critical thinking, problem-solving, time management, communication, and writing skills.
The Event Operations Intern will work alongside the Event Operations Coordinator to assist in the day-to-day planning and execution of all Tampa Bay Sun FC games and events.
Responsibilities
The pace of live sports can be demanding but rewarding. Event days often require long hours, flexibility, and teamwork across multiple departments. This internship is best suited for students who take initiative, communicate clearly, and are eager to learn by doing. You’ll gain real-world experience in the operations of a professional soccer club while helping to build a growing department from the ground up. Each day will bring new challenges, and your ideas and effort will directly contribute to the success of our matchday and event experience.
These internships are best suited for students who can get college credit and/or who are looking to get their foot in the door in the extremely competitive sports industry.

The Event Operations Intern will work alongside the Event Operations Coordinator to assist in the day-to-day planning and execution of all Tampa Bay Sun FC games and events.
Responsibilities
- Learn/Assist with match day/event management plus the setup/breakdown of all Tampa Bay Sun FC match days, Club events and any additional stadium events.
- Assist with the execution of all requests from the home team, visiting team and referees, collaborating with the venue and other departments to fill needs.
- Learn/assist with matchday operations, match presentation and competition elements.
- Learn how to quickly problem solve in a high-pressure environment/adapt to match day as circumstances change.
- Create/Provide a positive/open minded work environment.
- In addition to daily assignments, you will have the opportunity to learn and be involved with Live Events and any third-party sporting events we host at Suncoast Credit Union Field.
- Other duties as assigned
- Applicants can be working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree with an emphasis in Sport Business/Management or Event/ Hospitality Management.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Exceptional reliability, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills required.
- An innovative individual who can come up with ideas and work extremely well within a team to come up with creative solutions and identify new opportunities, often in a high-pressure, fast-changing environment.
- Strong attention to small details is a must.
- Able to be available during non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, and within a team atmosphere.
- Strong interest in soccer and sports is a plus.
- Applicants are self-sufficient and are work driven.
- This role will be around 20-30 hours weekly.
- Ability to be flexible including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- MLS, USL and/or NWSL experience and/or knowledge of the Triad/Core area is a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks related to event setup.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be available to work the full Spring season (February - June); required to be present for 80% of matchdays/events as assigned.
