We are seeking an experienced and committed Family Advocate to join our dynamic and innovative organization. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the Director of Training and Education leads the strategic vision and daily operations of Project Harmony’s Training Institute. The Director will be overseeing a dynamic team of learning professionals who support both internal employees and external community partners. This includes – but is not limited to – the development and delivery of in-person, asynchronous, and online training, as well as oversight of the learning management system and e-learning platform. This individual ensures that all learning opportunities are grounded in adult learning principles, aligned with best practices in instructional design and technology. The Director will collaborate with and be responsive to the evolving needs of multidisciplinary professionals, such as law enforcement, county attorneys, the Child Protective Services hotline, etc.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and coaching for the Training Department
  • Collaborate with leadership and program areas throughout the organization to help identify organizational learning needs
  • Design, implement, evaluate and deliver learning opportunities and experience using a best practices approach
  • Guide and oversee training-based prevention efforts
  • Utilize instructional technology to promote engagement, accessibility, and retention in both in-person and virtual learning settings
  • Oversee the administration and continuous improvement of Project Harmony’s Learning Management System, ensuring courses are cataloged, evaluated, updated and accessible
  • Develop high-quality, branded learning materials
  • Guide the development of asynchronous learning, microlearning, and e-learning content, collaborating with subject matter experts and departmental leaders
  • Develop, plan, and coordinate local, state, and national marketing of training and educational content
  • Collaboratively lead the annual conference planning process with partner agencies
  • Maintain data tracking and evaluation systems to assess training outreach, satisfaction, knowledge retention, and long-term effectiveness
  • Develop, implement and report on fiscal strategies to increase and sustain training revenue
  • Stay informed on Child Abuse Reporting trends in Nebraska and Iowa, and industry-wide developments in child protection, trauma-informed care, and adult education to ensure training content remains relevant, inclusive, and evidence-based
  • Champion culturally competent and inclusive training practices for both internal and external audiences
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required in education, social work, criminal justice, psychology, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Training and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in curriculum development, adult learning theory, instructional design, and learning evaluation
  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience in a training, education, or curriculum development
  • Professional experience in child welfare, advocacy, or multidisciplinary team environments is a plus

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong commitment to collaboration, communication, and relationship-building across program areas
  • Expertise in applying adult learning principles and instructional frameworks
  • Competency in learning technology platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high quality and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of child abuse, and family violence, as well as understanding of the roles of law enforcement, child protection services, mental health and medical community
  • Excellent active listening, presentation, verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of initiative, energy, and professionalism
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, decision-making and time management skills
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to resolve conflicts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital learning platforms
  • Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards in all interactions

Other

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours
  • Must pass a comprehensive criminal history background check
  • Must have access to reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance
  • Position may involve some travel, primarily within the state
