Job Overview

Wagner Construction Inc. is seeking a Project Manager to oversee the successful planning, execution, and completion of heavy civil and utility projects. This position plays a crucial role in both estimating and managing projects to ensure profitability, efficiency, and quality. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee contract administration, accounting, and forecasting for assigned projects.
  • Manage all required contract documents and submittals to agencies/owners.
  • Supervise field operations and coordinate construction materials and delivery methods.
  • Track and manage project costs and forecasting to ensure profitability.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Provide leadership and direction to field project engineers to maintain project schedules and objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of job site safety.
  • Ensure timely project closeout and client satisfaction.

Related Responsibilities

  • Maintain detailed records of project documentation, correspondence, and invoices.
  • Reconcile vendor and subcontractor invoice discrepancies.
  • Ensure permits and inspections are obtained and scheduled.
  • Verify accuracy of billings and completion of work.
  • Keep the company database accurate and up to date with project data.
  • Demonstrate strong multitasking and organizational skills while managing multiple projects.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices at all job sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Science or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in utility and earthwork project management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience using MS Office, Bluebeam, and HCSS HeavyBid.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-production environment.
  • Flexibility to work in multiple locations as projects may require travel.
  • Willingness to work varying schedules, including night shifts depending on project demands.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

  • Typical office environment with regular site visits to construction locations.
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk using a computer.
  • Occasional long phone conversations and light travel.
  • Outdoor and indoor work environments with exposure to various weather conditions.
