Description

PURPOSE

The Warehouse Receiving Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the receiving area. This role ensures all shipments are properly received, recorded, and discrepancies or conditional issues are promptly identified and reported. The Receiving Lead also manages the staffing of the receiving department to maintain operational efficiency.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

1. Manage Receiving Operations

  • Oversee the receiving department, including scheduling temporary employees, assigning teams to containers, and coordinating the put-away process in the warehouse.
  • Maintain an accurate receiving log documenting receipt dates, pallet/carton quantities, and return authorization numbers.
  • Ensure proper pallet stacking and inventory organization.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Address challenges and make informed decisions to enhance the service and productivity of the receiving department.
  • Maintain Cleanliness and Efficiency: Keep the receiving area orderly and strive to clear products from the dock within 24 hours unless an issue arises.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate clearly and effectively to foster positive outcomes and collaboration.
  • Record Keeping: Create and maintain records related to pallet load quantities, configurations, and inventory management.
  • Inventory and Supplies Management: Ensure sufficient supplies for the receiving department, such as pallets, wrap, and load twine.
  • Incoming Merchandise Placement: Identify and coordinate the placement of incoming merchandise within the warehouse.

8. Monitor and Address Damages: Log and monitor damaged goods, filing claims when necessary.

The Receiving Lead Ensures The Receiving Team

  • Understands and executes all policies and procedures of the Company
  • Is properly trained in use of equipment
  • Is properly trained in use of safety equipment (lighting, back belts, fans, etc.) as necessary
  • Inspects, counts, and properly signs for all incoming deliveries
  • Ensures seal numbers (if used) match Bill of Lading
  • Is trained in and executes proper inspection of condition of shipments received
  • Accurately maintains receiving log on a daily basis

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Previous warehouse/receiving experience.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to assure delivery requirements.
  • Clear communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Comfortable with computers and proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook).
  • Experience on forklift.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and standards.
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.

Language Skills

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees. Ability to effectively present information to employees. Ability to speak and write English.
