Location: Hybrid – Dallas, TX

Job Summary

The Vice President of HRIS and Payroll is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for driving payroll operations, HR technology, and employee service delivery across the organization. This role requires deep payroll expertise, strong project management skills, and the ability to lead large-scale HR system implementations. The VP will partner with executive leadership to influence strategy, ensure compliance, and drive efficiency through process improvements, technology, and change management. This position will oversee and engage a hybrid workforce, effectively leading both in-office and remote team members across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategy
    • Lead the Payroll, HRIS, and Employee Service Center teams to deliver accurate, compliant, and efficient services across the organization.
    • Develop and execute a long-term roadmap for payroll operations, HRIS optimization, and shared services delivery.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on payroll compliance, system enhancements, and workforce data strategies.
  • Payroll Operations
    • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for a complex, multi-state workforce.
    • Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness with federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Bring expertise in service charge and tip payroll models as well as complex wage and hour compliance, managing payroll in highly regulated and challenging jurisdictions including California.
    • Implement controls and reporting to mitigate risks and support audits.
  • HRIS & Technology
    • Drive optimization and continuous improvement of HR technology, reporting, and analytics.
    • Partner with IT and business stakeholders to integrate HR systems with finance, benefits, and other platforms.
    • Lead end-to-end payroll and HRIS system implementation, from selection through deployment and stabilization.
    • Extensive understanding of HRIS and payroll system integrations, with the ability to evaluate, design, and optimize data flows across multiple enterprise applications.
    • Manage vendor relationships and assess new technology solutions.
  • Service Center & Employee Experience
    • Oversee the Employee Service Center to ensure high-quality employee support, consistency, and scalability.
    • Drive adoption of a service delivery model that balances efficiency with personalized employee experience.
  • Project & Change Management
    • Lead cross-functional projects with significant organizational impact, including payroll/HRIS upgrades, process redesign, and compliance initiatives.
    • Present recommendations and progress updates to executive teams and key stakeholders.
    • Apply strong influencing skills to gain buy-in and drive adoption of changes.
About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Payroll and HRIS leadership roles.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) strongly preferred; Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or other related payroll/HR certifications (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR) a plus.
  • Strong project management and change management skills; PMP or Prosci certification a plus.
  • Demonstrated success leading at least one end-to-end payroll and HRIS system implementation.
  • Strong payroll expertise with deep knowledge of compliance, controls, and operational best practices.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry with a large, complex hourly workforce strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to present to and influence executive leadership.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud strongly preferred; exposure to Workday, Dayforce, UKG and ADP also valued.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and lead high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and engage hybrid and remote teams across multiple locations.
