Job Summary
MasterControl is seeking a visionary Vice President of Engineering to lead and scale our engineering organization for our flagship growth product in the Life Sciences industry. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will drive the development and delivery of a highly scalable, cloud-based SaaS platform designed to operate 24/7 with the utmost reliability, quality, and resilience.
You will instill a culture of accountability, creativity, and urgency while ensuring product excellence through a data-driven approach. This role requires a collaborative leader who can work closely with product management, architecture teams, customer support, and cloud operations to deliver an exceptional product experience. You'll also engage directly with customers to understand their needs and use metric-driven insights to measure and enhance product success.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $200,000- $300,000 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and implement the engineering strategy to support the company's growth product and align with business goals.
- Ensure the SaaS platform is reliable, scalable, and resilient, meeting the demands of a 24/7 production environment in the Life Sciences industry.
- Drive a quality, accountability, and urgency culture, fostering innovation and excellence across the engineering organization.
- Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, ensuring alignment with company values and goals.
- Champion a culture focused on quality, creativity, and customer-centric development.
- Instill accountability at all levels while fostering collaboration, transparency, and agility.
- Oversee the development of the scalable cloud-based SaaS product, ensuring reliability and performance.
- Implement and optimize Agile SCRUM processes to ensure efficient and predictable delivery.
- Use data-driven approaches to measure and improve KPIs related to engineering performance, product quality, and user engagement.
- Partner closely with product management and architecture teams to align technical execution with the product vision.
- Collaborate with customer support and cloud operations teams to continuously improve incident response, reducing downtime and enhancing customer satisfaction.
- Meet with customers to gather insights, understand pain points, and incorporate feedback into engineering priorities.
- Measure product success using usage metrics and other customer-driven KPIs.
- Ensure the highest levels of product quality and resilience through rigorous testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Establish and enforce best practices for engineering excellence, including design reviews, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.
Required Experience
- Proven success as a senior engineering leader for a scalable, cloud-based SaaS product.
- Deep understanding of 24/7 production systems focusing on reliability, quality, and resilience.
- Strong experience in Agile SCRUM methodologies and leading cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build a culture of accountability, creativity, and urgency while focusing on product quality.
- Experience in the Life Sciences or regulatory compliance regulated industry is desirable but not required.
- Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities, with a focus on mentorship and career development.
- Experience leading distributed organizations.
- Strong collaboration skills to partner with product, architecture, customer support, and cloud operations teams.
- Data-driven mindset with a focus on defining and using KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customers.
- Extensive knowledge of scalable cloud architectures, modern DevOps practices, and SaaS platform technologies.
- Familiarity with system monitoring tools and incident response frameworks.
- Solid understanding of usage metrics and their application in measuring product success.
