We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Payment Services Specialist to join our Third-Party Services Payment Services team. This role involves reviewing and processing NSF payments, handling disputed chargebacks, and payment adjustments. The specialist will process payments including wires. Additional responsibilities include supporting the department with various payment related tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a problem-solving mindset, and a commitment to accuracy and compliance. Success in this role depends on keen attention to detail and clear, effective communication.
This is an in-office position based in the Virginia Beach, VA Customer Care Center.

This is an in-office position based in the Virginia Beach, VA Customer Care Center.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and process NSF payments, ensuring that accurate email notifications are sent to residents regarding insufficient funds.
- Handle chargebacks for disputed payments, working to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Process and complete adjustment items entered by leasing offices or internal vendor(s), ensuring proper documentation and accuracy.
- Process payments received at the centralized lockbox and payments sent by mail.
- Review and process transmittals from leasing offices, ensuring that all payment details are accurately captured and processed.
- Complete corporate wire payments and subsidy wire transfers.
- Send and respond to email inquiries regarding payment status, disputes, and other payment-related concerns.
- Process collection payments, ensuring that all payments are appropriately applied to outstanding balances within a timely manner.
- Perform other payment-related tasks as required to support the department’s overall operations
- Perform all duties in accordance with AVB Core Values.
- High school diploma OR equivalent (GED) required.
- Two years’ experience in a contact call center or shared services center or fast paced office operations environment preferred.
- Computer programs including Excel and Word, general understanding of credits/debits and general mathematics.
- Possesses customer service knowledge and ability to deliver exceptional customer experience, internally and externally.
- Reads and writes English as demonstrated by clear and concise written and verbal communications.
- Possesses basic math skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Problem solving skills; ability to identify customer concerns, acknowledge with empathy and articulate solution for the concern with a focus on providing a one call resolution.
- Ability to multi-task and perform other administrative tasks.
- Exhibits ability and willingness to work on a flexible schedule
