Role Summary/Purpose:

Reporting to the EVP & CEO of Health & Wellness, the SVP & GM – Specialty will be responsible for the strategic vision, development and execution for the overall Health & Wellness Specialty portfolio. The successful candidate will bring strong commercial experience to further drive growth in a book with both establish and emerging business sectors. This individual will develop annual plans, strategic growth objectives, and have overall P&L management for the Specialty book of business. They will provide strategic oversight for current product offerings & expansion to their direct team, cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. This individual will be responsible for the short and long term future of the Specialty portfolio.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Own and oversee development of all strategic action plans (i.e., growth pillars, P&L management) to achieve performance targets across the Specialty book of business.
  • Accountable for the delivery of key metrics for the Specialty portfolio
  • Provide strategic oversight to established markets in Cosmetic, Sight, and Sound markets, along with the emerging markets in the legacy “Wellness” book of business, including Chiropractic, Health Systems, Weight loss, Funeral, and Fertility, among others.
  • Leverage knowledge, expertise and relationships to implement and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy that will grow the portfolio.
  • Closely align with Strategy team to develop and execute upon existing partnerships and technology integrations with an eye towards increased monetization.
  • Navigate current portfolio dynamics coupled with an extended view of the overall market, channels, customers and partners.
  • Lead a team of General Managers and Sales Leaders aligned to the Specialty portfolio; influence and leverage resources across a matrixed organization.
  • Partner with Platform Solutions and Go To Market teams to drive increased usage with current product offerings while augmenting opportunities to support new market ventures and new products.
  • Partner and optimize working relationships with client groups and all key stakeholders, internal and external (i.e. Marketing, Analytics, Technology, Underwriting, Finance organizations).
  • Execute a multi-product sales strategy.
  • Partner with Field Sales Leadership to assist in the development and execution of commercial strategy.
  • Represent Synchrony interests in negotiations with current and new clients.
  • Develop and maintain deep relationships with key clients in related industries.
  • Attend industry events and tradeshows on behalf of the Company to represent the Synchrony and CareCredit brands.
  • Support business-wide initiatives as needed.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or in lieu of a Bachelor Degree, 10 years of progressive commercial sales experience including business development, client relationship, and/or negotiation experience
  • 10 years business development, client relationship, and/or negotiation experience in healthcare, retail, or related industries.
  • People management experience including experience leading sales teams and influencing in a matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated superior sales, business and financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading/closing contract negotiations, competitive pricing, business planning and P&L management.
  • Strong overall knowledge of card business including risk, collections, operations, marketing and finance.
  • Proven ability to innovate and find creative solutions to meeting business goals.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 30% of the time.

Desired Characteristics

  • Business Development / Client Relationship / Negotiations experience in the Healthcare or Healthcare Lending Industries preferred.
  • Advanced degree - MBA and 12 years of commercial sales experience.
  • Deep understanding of SYF products, services and capabilities.
  • Proven ability to influence senior corporate decision makers.
  • Ability to effectively interface and represent Synchrony at the most senior levels in client organizations.
  • Ability to innovate and find creative solutions to meeting business goals.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to work independently yet as key member and contributor to a broader team.

Grade/Level: 17

The salary range for this position is 260,000 – 430,000 USD Annual. This position is also eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan target of 40% of salary and an Annual Equity target of 40% of salary.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
