The Supply Chain Manager is required to manage wide-ranging aspects of the operations, such as production scheduling, procurement, receipt, and warehousing of raw materials, and warehousing and distribution of finished goods at the assigned manufacturing locations.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement a fully functional supply chain management/production control organization for the assigned manufacturing locations
  • Selects, develops and evaluates team to ensure efficient operation of the functions, provides positive and negative feedback to employees verbally and in writing. Documents feedback through Confirmation of Conversations. Conducts or participates in annual performance reviews for employees.
  • Develops supply chain budget, reviews monthly expenditures to ensure budgeted targets are met, and initiates cost reduction programs.
  • Achieves financial objectives by working with management group to prepare the materials budget, schedule expenditures, analyze variances and initiate corrective actions.
  • Responsible for inventory management including the inventory turns metric, and inventory accuracy, in conjunction with the inventory control function. Identifies opportunities for inventory reduction and recommends disposition of excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Establishes and implements standard operating procedures (SOP’s) based on best practices related to the systems, processes and metrics for the functions
  • Primary owner for customer on time and in full (OTIF) metric, enabling best in class OTIF by establishing and monitoring raw material replenishment and finished goods distribution strategies.
  • Represents the Supply Chain function within the Sales and Operations Planning process (S&OP).
  • Manages effective relationships with existing suppliers of goods and services to meet the established cost, quality and delivery targets.
  • Responsible for accuracy of inventory counts by implementing and managing, in conjunction with material handling, an inventory transaction system, capable of identifying discrepancies in inventory counts and taking corrective action to guard against inconsistencies in the future.
  • Adhere to established company policies, procedures, terms and conditions and legal matters that affect purchasing policies.
  • Participates as a member of the operations team in making cross-functional operational decisions.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining and aligning company policies that adhere to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Process Engineering and Quality to achieve operation plan targets.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Leads teams of employees directly and through subordinate leaders.  Provides leadership to ensure employees demonstrate appropriate demeanor, technical accuracy, efficiency and conformity to company policies. 

  • Provides leadership for functional leaders:
    • Production Control Manager (s)
    • Materials Manager (s)
    • Logistics Manager (s)
  • Develops strategic plan for department communicates vision for staff to execute.
  • Provide positive and negative feedback to employees verbally and in writing. Documents feedback through Confirmation of Conversations. 
  • Conducts or participates in annual performance reviews for employees.

  • Experienced proven leader who leads by example and motivates people to create a challenging, empowering, and collaborative working environment.

  • Understands the function of a Supply Chain in a dynamic manufacturing environment and can develop and document Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Identify tools, processes and metrics to optimize Supply Chain team performance.
  • Good writing, documentation, and record keeping skills.
  • Good analytical problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to contribute and lead teams in a cross functional collaborative environment.
  • Financial skills including cost modeling, cost analysis, make vs. buy analysis.
  • Ability to leverage metrics and other tools to drive team performance

Education and/or Experience

  • BA/BS degree in business, supply chain, management or other related discipline. Masters in related field a plus.
  • 6-10 years progressive leadership experience in supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and report writing skills.
  • Experience in total quality, six-sigma, or other similar environments preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate solid written and oral communication skills.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

APICS CPIM, CSCP certification or ISM CPM, CPSM preferred
