Thompson’s continuum of care encompasses three domains: prevention services, foster care, and mental health, operating across the Carolinas, Florida and Tennessee with new operations expanding into Kentucky. What will you do as a State Director, Child Services?

As the State Director, Child Services, you will lead a team of leaders across Kentucky that provide an array of services to the children and families they serve.

As State Director, Child Services you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Use a trauma-informed approach in their daily work and interactions with clients and colleagues using the principles of CARE: Developmentally Focused, Family Involved, Relationship Based, Competence Centered, Trauma Informed, and Ecologically Oriented.
  • Develop program operational strategy.
  • Oversee and manage the program operations and leaders
  • Think in terms of profitability and sustainable competitive advantage to the regional market.
  • Regularly review and analyze data trends related to program outcomes, retention, compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Assemble and develop a strong team of leaders, delegating tactical work.
  • Communicate clearly, powerfully, and convincingly.
  • Manage time well – find the appropriate balance between spending time working upward in the organization and externally.
  • Be attentive to “soft issues” demonstrating the value in culture, feedback, organizational beliefs and values.
  • Think strategically and understand the big picture to help drive strategic direction and goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with funders and partners at the state and community level.
  • Actively participate in state and local coalitions and workgroups.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, mental health or related area.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years’ leadership experience in the field of human services or mental health
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience working in the field of human services or mental health
  • Experience in multi-site leadership preferred
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Strong relationship building and networking skills
  • Displays the capacity/coachability for future growth and development as a leader
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and meet any credentialing, licensing and privileging standards as it pertains to the program
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite application software, excellent written and oral communication skills.
