Overview:

Apex Systems is seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our client's IT Infrastructure team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide support for a large-scale SQL Server environment including 1000+ production and development databases, and 60+ SQL Servers.
• Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases across development, test, and production environments using tools such as SSMS, SQL Server Agent, and PowerShell.
• Ensure high availability, performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery planning utilizing technologies such as Always-On Availability, Log Shipping, and Replication.
• Monitor database health and implement proactive maintenance strategies.
• Collaborate with application developers, infrastructure engineers, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders to support data-related needs, troubleshooting issues, and implement solutions aligned with business goals.
• Manage database security, access controls, and compliance with internal policies.
• Perform data migrations, upgrades, and patching as needed.
• Document processes and contribute to knowledge transfer for future permanent staff.
  
  

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.
• Strong proficiency in performance tuning, backups/restores, and replication.
• Senior level experience with SQL Server versions 2016 and newer.
• Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., Azure SQL) is a plus.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (SOX, NERC, TSA, NACHA) is beneficial but not required.
• Proven troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of PowerShell scripting and automation tools.
• Exposure to data governance and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services and PowerBI
• Experience with Azure MySQL
