Key Responsibilities

  • Data Platform Development & Modeling
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and analysts to understand business needs and translate them into foundational data models that support reporting, analytics, and data product development.
  • Assist in defining and documenting data modeling objectives, ensuring models are aligned with business goals and are easy to maintain and extend.
  • Support Master Data Management (MDM) efforts by helping define and maintain consistent, accurate, and governed master data entities (e.g., customer, product, store) across the platform.
  • Participate in the creation of domain-specific data products that are discoverable, reusable, and governed according to data mesh principles.
  • Work with the data governance team to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance across the platform, including alignment with MDM standards.
  • Contribute to platform improvements by identifying opportunities for automation, standardization, and better data usability.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience with PySpark for building and maintaining data pipelines within a distributed data processing environment.
  • Business Intelligence & Analytics
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports to support business decision-making.
  • Perform advanced data modeling and DAX calculations to deliver actionable insights.
  • Enable self-service analytics by building semantic models and curated datasets for business users.
  • Ensure performance optimization, security (e.g., row-level security), and governance in reporting solutions.
  • Domain Expertise & Collaboration
  • Become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for key retail data domains (e.g., customer, product, transaction, marketing).
  • Partner with the data governance team to enforce data standards, stewardship, and compliance.
  • Work cross-functionally with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
  • Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers and analysts.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, data analytics, or BI development.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Power BI, DAX, Paginated Reports
    • SQL, Python, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Data Lake Storage
    • Azure Databricks and Delta Lake (basic to intermediate level)
  • Proven experience in data modeling and translating business requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Familiarity with data mesh, domain-driven design, and master data management practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the retail domain, especially with customer and marketing analytics.
  • Familiarity with machine learning workflows and integration with analytics platforms.
  • Certifications such as:
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate
    • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate
    • Databricks Certified Data Engineer
