Brief Description
Reporting to the VP of Business Operations and Analytics, the Senior Director of Commercial and Medical Affairs Training will lead the organization’s efforts to cultivate a high-performing and continuously learning workforce. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing commercial training programs aligned with corporate priorities, brand strategy and functional business/account plans. The Senior Director will work closely with cross-functional leaders in the BU/Franchises to identify skills gaps, foster employee growth, and develop strategic training initiatives that drive high performing organization behaviors.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, within the established pay framework and our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influence individual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on a regular basis.
At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.

This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing commercial training programs aligned with corporate priorities, brand strategy and functional business/account plans. The Senior Director will work closely with cross-functional leaders in the BU/Franchises to identify skills gaps, foster employee growth, and develop strategic training initiatives that drive high performing organization behaviors.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the Commercial, Market Access and Medical Affairs training and development strategy that supports business growth, enhances employee capabilities, and drives a culture of continuous learning.
- Partner with executive leadership to identify and evolve core competencies required to achieve business goals, improve customer engagement and Key Account excellence within all field roles, and integrate them into learning programs.
- Oversee the analysis of Commercial needs and translate business requirements into comprehensive training programs.
- Lead the creation of scalable and innovative training programs across all Commercial teams, including leadership development, disease state, product, and business knowledge, technical skills, and customer engagement skills.
- Oversee the development and implementation of training programs for all field managers, as well as the Early Learning and Development Program.
- Ensure the new hire training contains robust and relevant content.
- Leverage a variety of training modalities, such as e-learning, instructor-led, blended, and experiential learning, to accommodate different learning styles and maximize engagement.
- Develop and coordinate training content and facilitation for the Kickoff Meetings and Plan of Action Meetings including planning and “train the trainer” sessions during Managers Meeting.
- Collaborate closely with the Global HR Learning & Development (L&D) team and other training departments within Jazz to exchange best practices, share training materials, and develop cohesive strategies.
- Lead and mentor a team, providing direction, support, and development to drive high performance.
- Set goals, provide regular feedback, and evaluate performance to ensure team alignment with overall department and company objectives.
- Cultivate an environment of collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and innovation within the training team.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and ROI of training programs, including learning outcomes, behavior change, and business impact.
- Regularly report to senior management on training initiatives, insights, and recommendations for improvement.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in learning and development, integrating relevant approaches into the training strategy.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate training tools and technologies, ensuring they align with organizational needs and enhance learning experiences.
- Foster a culture of innovation in training design, delivery, and measurement, leveraging advanced tools such as LMS platforms, VR, AR, and AI-driven training solutions.
- Act as a thought leader and advisor to senior leadership on the future of workplace learning.
- Demonstrates leadership capabilities; manages high performing team; communicates vision, objectives, and operational plan.
- Bachelors, in a business discipline, with a minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible marketing, sales and/or digital experience in the biopharmaceutical industry
- Demonstrated ability to create a shared vision, inspire strong collaboration across marketing, sales, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Leadership, and IT/IS functions to drive change with impact.
- Proven track record of effectively leading a training team, with a strong focus on integrating adult learning principles.
- Experienced in navigating ambiguity and change with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Proven track record of leading successful customer experience & digital transformation projects.
- Demonstrated leadership success in management, including building and/or leading a team or department.
- Strong collaboration abilities, along with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, to set priorities to meet timelines, to motivate others, and to manage budgets.
- Demonstrated track record of creative problem solving and strategic abilities.
- Travel will be required.
- Masters or advanced degree
- Agency experience and/or Coaching Certification is preferred but not required.
