Job Summary: The Research Scientist (PhD) II is a mid-level doctoral-level research professional who may serve as either a lead investigator on small or independent studies, or as a key contributor on larger, multi-site or interdisciplinary projects. This role is designed for PhD-trained individuals with significant research experience, including those who serve as principal investigators, co-investigators, or scientific leads. Responsibilities include study design, protocol execution, data analysis, manuscript and grant writing, and dissemination of findings. The Research Scientist II may supervise or mentor junior staff and contributes to collaborative team-based research in partnership with investigators, the data and analytics team, and the research administration team. This position supports research activities across lab, clinical, and outpatient settings.

Specifications: PhD Required with a minimum of 5-7 years of experience. Expertise in research design, proposal development, and manuscript writing

  • Familiarity with federal grant mechanisms and sponsor requirements
  • Working knowledge of institutional research systems, IRB processes, and team science approaches. Experience integrating scientific theory with practical study operations. Awareness of academic and research leadership pathways for PhDs Skills Needed: Proficiency with statistical, qualitative, or computational software tools (e.g., R, Stata, NVivo, REDCap) Strong writing and editing skills for manuscripts, grant proposals, and presentations
  • Ability to synthesize data and literature into publishable scientific products. Skilled in managing project workflows and research timelines Capable of mentoring staff and supporting collaborative team environments.
