Advertised Job Summary
This position is part of the South Carolina Child Care & Resource Referral team of statewide Instructors/Training Coordinators (Quality Coaches) that provides technical assistance and professional development to early childhood programs and collaborates with partner agencies to coordinate services. This home-based position requires reliable transportation and the ability to travel to conduct on-site visits to early childhood programs and perform other job duties.
For this position, the selected applicant must obtain two approvals, both from SC Endeavors, within 12 months of employment: (1) Approval as a South Carolina Certified Trainer Credential in all areas of child development (2) Approval as a South Carolina Certified Technical Assistance Provider.
Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 3 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
For this position, the selected applicant must obtain two approvals, both from SC Endeavors, within 12 months of employment: (1) Approval as a South Carolina Certified Trainer Credential in all areas of child development (2) Approval as a South Carolina Certified Technical Assistance Provider.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, or a degree in education related field with a minimum of 18 credit hours documented on transcript of core coursework in Early Childhood Education. Preference will be given to applicants with experience as an employee/owner of an early childhood setting (center-based, family-based) serving infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Preference will also be given to applicants with experience conducting adult/parent education trainings and providing technical assistance to implement program quality standards in early childhood education setting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of or demonstrated experience in the provision of technical assistance and training to child care providers in topics that include business start-up and planning, acquiring licensing status, maintaining quality services, and resolving corrective action plans. Knowledge of SC Child Care licensing requirements and ABC standards and awareness of community services for children. Knowledge and experience in the use of tools to develop online training/courses/tutorials is preferred. Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills and computer skills that include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web-based software applications; have the ability to lift 50 lbs.; ability to maintain reliable transportation to conduct on-site visits to early childhood programs and perform other job duties; and hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Technical Assistance: Collect, analyze, and use data from early childhood programs, licensing representatives, and community partners in the service delivery area to meet the diversity of early childhood settings (center-based, faith-based, school-based, home-based). Travel to early childhood programs to conduct on-site technical assistance and provide virtual technical assistance to assigned counties/regions and develop quality improvement plans in partnership with early childhood programs to maintain or increase program-wide quality levels. Implement and work with child care networks and/or Communities of Practice with child care programs to increase program quality and advocacy.

Training: Conduct and develop partnerships with appropriate organizations in the community to offer training opportunities for early childhood programs, parents and/or community members. Develop training content and professional learning plans that encourage engagement of early childhood programs and include follow-up technical assistance, including traveling to conduct on-site/virtually when appropriate, to help early childhood educators put knowledge gained in training into practice in the program.

Consumer Awareness: Distribute brochures and resource information to community partners and local organizations regarding quality child care. Participate in agency activities including but not limited to Early Care and Education Partner Forums, formerly known as Technical Assistance Coordination Team (TACT) meetings, or other networking meetings, conferences, seminars, and events to promote the services of the SC CCR&R for early childhood providers, parents, and community members. This job duty requires reliable transportation and the ability to travel as needed.
