Essential Purpose Of This Position
The Product Strategy Specialist is an employee who supports the product and market functions. The Product Strategy Specialist is responsible for supporting all aspects of the product line(s) including, financial analysis, performance to forecast, performance to plan, sales team support, selling & pricing strategy execution, product promotions, new supplier identification and development, and alternate product identification. The Product champion leads the product category supporting development and execution of marketing programs that improve product line sales and profitability performance.

The Product Strategy Specialist is an employee who supports the product and market functions. The Product Strategy Specialist is responsible for supporting all aspects of the product line(s) including, financial analysis, performance to forecast, performance to plan, sales team support, selling & pricing strategy execution, product promotions, new supplier identification and development, and alternate product identification. The Product champion leads the product category supporting development and execution of marketing programs that improve product line sales and profitability performance.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- In collaboration with inside and outside sales team to support the development of pricing strategies and balance profit margins to meet revenue goals and to increase customer satisfaction.
- Supports the development and execution of a comprehensive business plan and strategy for the market segment(s) in which Essex Brownell competes, primariliy electrical insulation related products. As part of the strategy, develop the core positioning and messaging for each assigned market segment and product category.
- Analyzes competitiveness of each product offering and product trends in the marketplace. Use this analysis to develop strategies for assigned products.
- Conducts market research and customer interviews to identify technology and innovation trends in the assigned market segments. Monitor market segment trends and identify opportunities for new products and services.
- Support and develop go-to-market strategies for new products. Plan the launch of new products, develop product literature/training materials as needed and manage the cross-functional implementation of the product launch plan.
- Coordinate elements of marketing communications for assigned market segments and product categories. Collaborate with the VP of Marketing, marketing management and other Product Champions to execute a well-coordinated plan.
- Coordinate & develop sales training materials to support new product introductions and existing product lines.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Management, Marketing or equivalent
- 2 to 5 years’ experience in industrial distribution or managing industrial product lines.
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in successfully supporting sales teams with business insights, sales tools, product specification/selection materials, training, and product presentations.
- Prior experience supporting successful B2B product marketing campaigns to the industrial, automotive, energy, and commercial market segments.
- Prior electrical market knowledge.
- Microsoft Access knowledge is a plus!
- Must demonstrate strategic mindset
