Position Summary

The Material Planner is responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient flow of materials to meet production demands while balancing inventory levels and cost efficiency. This role includes elements of procurement, such as vendor coordination and purchase order management, to support material availability.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Material Planning & Inventory Management

  • Utilize ERP systems (Epicor, NetSuite) to monitor inventory levels, track material requirements, and plan replenishment.
  • Ensure material availability to support production schedules while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to confirm lead times and adjust procurement schedules as needed.
  • Identify material constraints and proactively resolve supply chain disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials and inventory transactions.

Purchasing & Supplier Coordination

  • Generate and manage purchase orders for raw materials and components.
  • Work closely with suppliers to track order status, expedite deliveries, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support cost-saving initiatives by identifying opportunities for supplier consolidation and price negotiations.
  • Collaborate with the receiving department to ensure proper materials are delivered and discrepancies are addressed promptly.
  • Develop and maintain positive vendor relationships to ensure quality and service reliability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with production teams to ensure materials align with production schedules and resolve any shortages.
  • Coordinate with quality control to ensure materials meet company specifications.
  • Participate in daily production and supply chain meetings to provide material status updates.
  • Other duties as assigned

Reporting & Compliance

  • Maintain procurement documentation and material planning reports.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for material management.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, business ethics policies, and ITAR export control requirements.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities)

  • U.S. Person status required due to export control regulations.
  • 5+ years of experience in materials planning, supply chain, or procurement, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Epicor, NetSuite preferred) and strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and deadline-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with reading technical drawings and blueprints (preferred).

The employee sits for extended periods of time at a computer station or work desk and is exposed to typical office environment conditions and noise levels. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working on the manufacturing floor where the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the manufacturing floor is usually loud.
