The experienced Payroll Accountant's primary duties and responsibilities include preparation and processing of biweekly payroll, compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare entries to the general ledger, and month end reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
Your Primary Responsibilities will include
- Processing biweekly payroll within the ADP system
- Processing and reviewing timesheet data weekly for accuracy and allowable hours.
- Calculate and upload manual payroll batches including, salary promotions, bonuses, clothing deductions, and wellness earnings.
- Manage payroll questions from employees.
- Audit and update employee data changes in ADP.
- Process changes to payroll including new hires, terminations, and wage increases.
- Maintain compliance with tax law including federal and multi-state registration, regulations, and filings.
- Upload all tax notification to SmartCompliance and work with ADP to resolve any tax issues.
- Register for tax jurisdictions and make sure tax jurisdictions are set up properly in SmartCompliance
- Perform a monthly payroll audit.
- Monthly PTO accrual process
- Work closely with the ADP MPS and Garnishment teams correct any payroll related issues.
- Verify all Quarterly and Annual payroll tax returns filed by ADP.
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare and record payroll related journal entries to the general ledger.
- Provide year-end support for audit requirements
- Analyze current payroll policies and procedures and recommend best practices for efficiency and accuracy
- Perform additional assignments, as directed by the Controller or Human Resources Manager.
- 4+ years of Payroll and Accounting experience
- Payroll Processing experience with ADP a plus
- Understanding of multi-state tax registration, regulations, and filings a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook, with Access a plus
- Excellent problem solving/judgment and analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
- Good organization skills with the ability to prioritize work and ensure deadlines are met
- Full Time Position that requires minimum of 40 hours per week with possibility of overtime
