The Occupational Therapist provides evaluation and therapy services, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transition of care, in an efficient, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive manner upon licensed independent practitioner referral.   • The Occupational Therapist position provides evaluation and therapy services, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transition of care, in an efficient, age-appropriate, and culturally sensitive manner upon licensed independent practitioner referral.
  • Provides comprehensive compliant and safe clinical care demonstrating the philosophy of family centered care, a commitment to the achievement of optimal patient outcomes in alignment with the standards of practice of their professional organization.
  • Works with medical staff and the multidisciplinary team to design and implement individualized plans of care to meet the needs of the pediatric patients and their family.
  • Functions as a team member and develops leadership skills through activities such as mentoring, and providing education to students and other professionals.
  • Supports the ongoing development and improvement of the department through participation in special projects, performance improvement and facility committees.
  • Responsible for professional growth and development through ongoing education and research in alignment with hospital’s patient care and strategic direction.
  • Responsible for maintaining current knowledge in changes related to scope of practice, coding/billing practices, compliant documentation and any other knowledge related to the compliant practice in a revenue cycle environment.
  • In cooperation with other local leaders, offers exceptional care following the Shriners Hospitals for Children FOCUSED Program, a system-wide model for professional practice that stresses and emphasizes patient-centered care, or always putting the needs of the patients (and their families first).

Required

  • Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • OT licensed in state of Texas
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification


Preferred

  • 1 year occupational therapy experience; new graduates considered
  • Pediatric experience
