Position Summary
A Minor League Physical Performance Coach is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive strength and conditioning programs tailored to individual minor league baseball players, focusing on injury prevention, performance enhancement, and optimal recovery while collaborating closely with the coaching staff and medical team to maximize player development potential across the season and off-season.

Position Summary
A Minor League Physical Performance Coach is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive strength and conditioning programs tailored to individual minor league baseball players, focusing on injury prevention, performance enhancement, and optimal recovery while collaborating closely with the coaching staff and medical team to maximize player development potential across the season and off-season.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Available for all baseball camps, games, or events in the United States and Dominican Republic throughout the calendar year: Off-season programs, January Camp, Spring Training, Extended Spring Training, Regular Season, Postseason, and Instructional League.
- Design and implement the Rockies Physical Performance Training Program.
- Conduct regular physical assessments to identify each player's strengths, weaknesses, and potential injury risks.
- Create individualized training plans based on player needs, including strength, power, speed, agility, and flexibility development.
- Lead team warm-ups, drills, and recovery sessions, ensuring proper exercise technique and progression.
- Monitor training load, identify potential overtraining signs, and collaborate with the medical staff to manage injuries.
- Utilize performance tracking technology to analyze training data and adjust programs accordingly.
- Regularly communicate with coaches, medical staff, and player development personnel regarding player progress and concerns.
- Assist with rehabilitating injured players under the guidance of the physical therapist. Continually educate players and staff on the fundamentals of strength and conditioning, sports science, nutrition, and recovery tactics.
- Understand Force Plates and software to assess and program players throughout the year.
- Update rosters on software to reflect athletes' current location and use it to track their physical development.
- Present strength, skill, sports science, nutrition, hydration, and recovery tactics to players in an educational environment.
- Oversee respective affiliates' day-to-day scheduling, training, speed/skill work, and education.
- Supervise respective affiliates weight rooms; clean, organize, design.
- Manage the training of players on the road at the affiliate; provide supplements, oversee pre- and postgame food, and set up weight room times with the home team's strength coach.
- Inventory equipment, supplements, and technology and provide access to all three players.
- Handle and assess nutritional needs at affiliates and supervise the pre and post-game food provided by the organization.
- Independently make decisions at the affiliate regarding food, daily scheduling, training, and recovery needs.
- Be able to autonomously make decisions regarding players' programs at the affiliate when dealing with certain limitations: soreness, injury, or discomfort.
- Discuss the specific needs of players with sports coaches and practical implementation.
- Sit with players during player plan development and work with them regarding their physical needs.
- Participate during in-season and off-season planning meetings for program design.
- NSCA CSCS certification required.
- Master's degree in exercise science-related field, fluent in Spanish, and baseball background are all preferred but not required.
- Passion for the game of baseball and strength and conditioning.
- Extremely motivated, with a strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and a desire to learn and grow.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including advanced verbal and non-verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect with players.
- Ability to develop and maintain successful working relationships with members of the Club’s front office, on-field staff, and players.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, primarily Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Detail-oriented, strong organization skills, and multi-tasking abilities.
- Strong ability to work well as a team with co-workers and supervisors.
- Consistent, punctual, and regular attendance while presenting a professional image and demeanor.
- Open-minded to new concepts, science, and practical implementations.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with long hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Travel will be required.
- Work Environment: The position requires flexible working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Travel to different affiliate locations (domestic and international) will be required, which may involve extended stays away from home.
- The position will be primarily based at the affiliate's facility. It will involve regular exposure to outdoor environments and varying weather conditions and active participation in both individual and group physical activities.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and be on your feet for extended periods during training sessions, games, and events.
- Mobility: Frequent walking, standing, running, bending, kneeling, and reaching are required for training sessions, assisting athletes, and setting up equipment.
- Manual Dexterity: Ability to manipulate training equipment, weight room tools, and technology such as Force Plates, laptops, and other performance tracking devices.
- Lifting & Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, and transport training equipment, weights, and other materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Vision & Hearing: Ability to observe training sessions, monitor players’ movements, and listen to verbal communication and feedback from players and coaches.
- Travel: Frequent travel by car and plane to various affiliate locations, requiring the ability to carry and transport equipment.
- Environmental Exposure: The position involves working in both indoor and outdoor environments and interacting with varying weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain) during games, practices, and events.
- Mental and Emotional Stamina: The role demands excellent mental focus, decision-making, and interpersonal communication. The coach will be expected to manage stress, particularly when making independent decisions regarding player health and performance during high-pressure moments.
- Annual salary of $56,000 - $78,000. This is a regular status, full-time position.
- As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills, and any other factors the Colorado Rockies consider relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
