Middle School Science Teacher - School Year 2025-26

Summary:To provide quality instruction in a broad range of science skills to 6th grade students and that are crucial stepping stones to higher science learning and critical thinking.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Professional Responsibility

• Demonstrate sound professional teaching and classroom management skills to facilitate learning.
• Use oral and written language skills accurately and effectively.
• Maintain accurate records of student academic and behavioral progress, attendance, test scores and personal information.
• Carry out daily formal and informal assessments of student achievement.
• Integrate the assessments to design appropriate lesson planning and effective teaching strategies to accommodate diverse student needs and learning styles.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of student, family and colleague information to be a role model of respectful behavior at all times.
  
  

Instruction/Curriculum

• Plan long term as well as short term objectives of instruction.
• Plan and present lessons to promote and supplement skills, concepts and strategies introduced in the classroom.
• Perform integrated and trans-curriculum lesson planning in collaboration with student's classroom teachers.
  
  

Teacher/Student Relationships

• Promote and achieve student involvement and initiative in making choices which affect learning and behavior.
• Maintain an appropriate and safe learning environment.
• Create a classroom climate that facilitates learning.
• Provide students with adequate feedback about their work.
• Teach problem solving skills that lead to peaceful conflict resolution.
• Encourage students to strive for high achievement.
• Manage behavior problems on an individual basis.
• Help students develop positive self-concepts.
• Maintain excellent communications with parents throughout the school year.
  
  

Minimum Requirements:

• BA or BS from an accredited College or University.
• Alternatively, candidate may hold a license endorsed in another area but must have college major in Science
• Or, candidate must have passed the PLACE or PRAXIS II test in Science.
