About The Role
- CBH Medical is looking to directly hire Med-Techs for Western Tidewater Regional Jail. Support medical and nursing staff by providing personal hygiene and nursing care for inmates in addition to performing necessary clerical duties.
- 1. Registered Certified medication aides dispense oral, inhalation and topical medications to patients.
- They observe patients for drug reactions and report any problems to the nurses.
- Medication aides monitor the patient’s vital signs, calculate medication dosages and stock the medication cart.
- Certified medication aides also record what medications were given for the day and the dosage in the nurse’s medication administration record (MAR) chart.
- Clean and prepare examination rooms prior to patient appointments.
- Assist the nurse and office manager in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed.
- File charts, MAR’s lab reports, etc… Pull files on discharged inmates and refile in the inactive file.
- Encourages, participates, and supports safety program components including development, education, training, and communications regarding mandatory OSHA trainings and employee health and safety programs.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Once training is complete, graduates are required to obtain their medication aide certification through the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
- Graduates are required to take the certification exam within three months after training.
- Certification through a Medical Assistant training program or equivalent high school graduate
- CPR certification
