A Brief Overview

The Manager, Sports Marketing, is a critical component in the ASICS America Marketing department's overall success as they will develop and implement strategies that will promote our athletes, events, and teams. This position will report directly to the Director, Sports Marketing and will be responsible for overseeing daily operations while guiding department managers and assistant managers in their assigned sport categories.

What You'll Do

  • Working closely with Director of Sports Marketing, Global Sports Marketing and U.S. Marketing leadership, in creating a cohesive vision for sport that aligns to ASICS business and brand needs.
  • Ability to develop sports marketing strategic plans that connect our sport assets (athletes and events) to brand and business objectives while working cross functionally across Marketing, Product, PR, and Sales teams to bring holistic plans to life.
  • Build and develop presentations that include a clear narrative flow: business objective → strategic approach → asset integration → consumer impact → measurement plan, including KPI metrics like brand awareness, conversion and preference.
  • Develop a multi-year event strategy, identifying white space for consumer activation, syncing investment with return, and optimizing presence and amplification.
  • Oversee our event portfolio and add relevant races as needed that will utilize the Race Roster registration platform with the end goal of increasing memberships in the OneASICS program.
  • Assist Director, Sports Marketing with building and maintaining annual Strategic Plan ensuring that the department stays within the allocated budget per calendar year.
  • Build strong relationships and engage with industry race directors, external partners, and sponsors.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team in the development and execution of marketing plans for assigned sports and events.
  • Travel to domestic and international sporting events as needed.
  • Conduct quarterly competitor analysis for the purpose of sharing information with internal partners of current marketplace trends.

  • Strategic Sports Marketing Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of sports marketing principles, industry trends, and best practices to develop effective strategies that align with brand objectives and business goals.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Ability to guide department managers and collaborate effectively across Marketing, Product, PR, and Sales teams to implement cohesive marketing plans.
  • Event Portfolio Management: Experience in developing and executing multi-year event strategies, identifying activation opportunities, and optimizing brand presence at sporting events.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Skills in establishing measurement frameworks, analyzing KPIs (brand awareness, conversion, preference), and utilizing data to inform strategic adjustments.
  • Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with race directors, external partners, sponsors, and athletes within the sports industry ecosystem.
  • Strategic Planning & Presentation: Capacity to develop compelling presentations with clear narrative flow that connect business objectives to strategic approaches and measurable outcomes.
  • Budget Administration: Knowledge of financial planning and budget management to ensure department initiatives remain within allocated resources while maximizing ROI.
  • Competitive Analysis: Ability to conduct thorough market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and threats in the sports marketing landscape.
  • Digital Platform Proficiency: Understanding of digital marketing platforms, registration systems (like Race Roster), and loyalty programs to drive consumer engagement and membership growth.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills to simultaneously manage multiple projects, timelines, and priorities while maintaining attention to detail and quality.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
  • 0-2 years experience managing direct reports or equivalent training and experience
  • 3-5 years experience managing an events team (producing both authored and sponsored events) required
  • 4-6 years experience working with athletes, agents and governing bodies (e.g. IOC) preferred
  • Experience establishing vision, priorities, goals; developing strategic and tactical plans; and leading teams in accomplishing key strategic initiatives

SALARY / PAY RANGE: $90,000 - $110,000
