Position Summary

The qualified candidate will demonstrate extensive working knowledge of live broadcast and data center environments. Responsibilities include maintaining the integrity of active cabling systems and ensuring accurate and up-to-date system documentation. The candidate will lead and support installations from project initiation through client hand-off. Proficiency in the installation and termination of copper (coax, network, multi-conductor) and fiber-optic cabling is essential. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment are critical.

Responsibilities

  • Work on projects as assigned by the Senior Supervisor
  • Support the Senior Supervisor and perform administrative duties as needed
  • Provide real-time updates on project progress (in group and conference call settings)
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Lead by example, upholding company culture and policies
  • Supervise peers throughout the duration of project builds
  • Identify and recommend improvements to workflow procedures
  • Maintain an organized and efficient shop, including inventory and tools
  • Ensure proper use of safety equipment and adherence to safety protocols
  • Design rack cable layouts and determine best installation practices
  • Read and interpret VidCAD drawings (signal flow diagrams), rack elevations, and cable wire lists
  • Train and mentor peers on integration standards, best practices, and team SOPs
  • Perform rack setup and mechanical tasks associated with project builds
  • Organize and stage all necessary project materials from inventory
  • Maintain inventory management software
  • Install broadcast-related equipment
  • Perform cable cutting, terminating, labeling, dressing, and routing (coax, multi-conductor, network, fiber optic)
  • Use department test equipment proficiently (e.g., Fluke DSX5000, Paladin 1570, Cable IQ)
  • Test completed systems for engineering compliance and operational functionality
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements

  • Strong listening, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Advanced problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Proficiency with Google Sheets, Docs, and Drawings
  • Solid mathematical skills (including geometry and fractions)
  • Ability to read and interpret installation documentation (drawings, wire lists)
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Capable of delegating tasks and leading effectively under pressure
  • Full operational knowledge of hand and power tools, cable strippers, crimpers, etc.

Qualifications

  • 3–9+ years of experience in broadcast, data center, or telecommunications installations
  • High School Diploma, GED, or vocational education preferred
  • Industry certifications a plus (e.g., FOI, FOA-CFOT/CPCT, low voltage, BICSI, SCTE)
  • Working knowledge of VidCAD is a plus
  • CPR/AED certification is a plus

Working Conditions

  • Primarily indoors in climate-controlled environments; occasional outdoor work per client needs
  • Equipment rooms may have variable noise levels
  • Work may involve high places (ladders, grid systems), confined spaces (beneath raised floors), and tight quarters
  • Physical requirements: sitting, walking, climbing, standing, reaching, using hands, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, and seeing (near and far)
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • May work in varying temperature conditions (hot/cold)
  • Overnight work may be required on occasion depending on project demands
  • Typical workweek is 40 hours, with overtime as required by operations
