Responsibilities/Duties
- Perform failure analysis on electronic assemblies, components, and systems to identify product and process issues.
- Develop and execute test plans to replicate and isolate failure modes and mechanisms.
- Identify root causes of failures and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to improve product reliability and resolve recurring issues.
- Prepare clear, detailed technical reports documenting analysis methods, findings, and recommendations.
- Develop processes, models, and process flow methods to improve analysis efficiency.
- Install, maintain, and recommend new analytical tools, equipment, and methodologies to expand FA capabilities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing failure trends and implementing preventive measures.
- Stay current on emerging failure analysis tools, methods, and industry standards.
- Lead or own projects or project elements from start to finish, establishing expertise in areas of opportunity.
- Plan project timelines with critical checkpoints, ensuring deliverables are met.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and share technical knowledge across teams.
- Communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally, to engineering teams, management, customers, and OEM partners.
- Work under the direction of senior team members when needed, while functioning independently on assigned projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with FA techniques (microscopy, spectroscopy, electrical characterization, X-ray, etc.).
- Strong understanding of semiconductor devices, PCB design/manufacturing, and electronic assembly processes.
- Familiarity with statistical methods, FMEA, and reliability testing.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
