Tetra Tech is looking for a full-time, Environmental Project Scientist based in Salt Lake City, UT. The work is primarily from your home. You must live in Salt Lake City, UT.
Your Role
The selected candidate will:
- Coordinate multiple hazardous materials (asbestos, lead paint, mold, universal wastes, etc.) projects simultaneously for government clients including surveys, preparation of technical specifications, and third-party oversight work.
- Prepare various sized technical reports (some examples – third party oversight reports, completion reports, Phase I and II’s, remedial work plans, facility assessment tools)
- Determine federal, state and local environmental laws and statutes for projects nationwide.
- Provide professional expertise in technical and administrative support for identification, documentation and notifications related to releases, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct surveys – AHERA, renovation/demolition, emergency response/recovery (ex: wildfires, floods, hurricanes, hazmat spills etc.), condition assessments,
- Coordinate work scopes and prepare proposals.
- Schedule field teams and subcontractors.
- Coordinate logistics for emergency response and client infrastructure support.
- Coordinate generators, fueling, and heating projects.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience with industrial hygiene, environmental health and safety consulting, and environmental science. In addition, you will have / be:
- Experience writing technical reports and understanding of data for asbestos, lead, and mold sampling.
- Ability to conduct third party oversight for abatement of asbestos, lead and mold.
- Experience with government programs and industrial hygiene regulations.
- Able to manage a heavy project load (estimate 25 projects or more) at any given time.
- Able to clearly and concisely communicate with colleges, clients, project teams, contractors and sub-contractors.
- Problem solving skills
- Detailed oriented
- Highly motivated and client focused
- Work well in a team environment
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or physical sciences (e.g., geology, biology, hydrology, health physics) from an accredited United States college or university is required.
- Master’s degree in above listed sciences preferred.
- Industrial Hygiene Management certification is a plus.
- EPA HERA Building Inspection License is a plus.
- EPA Lead Inspector is a plus.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification is a plus.
- 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety certification is a plus.
This position requires roughly 25% travel. You must be able to:
- Work at a desk/computer.
- The work may require the use of protective clothing for field mobilizations.
- Drive on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
