Description

Harbor is seeking an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant to join our Toledo team! This position assesses children in childcare and other community settings (e.g. home visits, socialization groups) consistent with an Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMH-C) approach, provides social and emotional coaching and modeling, and provides IECMH-C trainings for staff and parents.

Position is full-time, 40 hours per week.

Education/Experience/Other Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Child and Family Studies, Education, or related degree from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Professional license in Ohio preferred (LPC, LPCC, LSW, LISW, etc.).
  • Candidate is required to earn their Ohio ECMH Professional Credential once eligible; candidate may be required to earn their Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist (OCPS) certification.
  • Have basic knowledge, experience and demonstrated level of skill in early childhood development, early care and education and early childhood mental health.
  • Candidate will have strong attention to detail and be self-motivated and organized, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • CPR/First Aid and NCI/CPI Certifications required within 90 days of employment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and show proof of personal auto insurance policy to be deemed insurable with Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier.
  • Must be proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft Word.
  • When applicable, non-licensed staff will be required to complete 20 hours of CEUs every 24 months

Essential Job Competencies/Primary Duties

  • Provides IECMH-C services to childcare centers, children, and families, including individual and programmatic consultation, home-based services, and/or teacher/community trainings as appropriate or indicated; services provided in home and community settings.
  • Participates in implementation of grant funded/contract programs and maintains records in compliance with grant requirements. Appropriately documents services and provides to engaged parties, including families and childcare centers.
  • Gathers data and assists in preparing reports for funding sources as assigned.
  • Manages assigned caseload effectively and efficiently in accordance with Harbor’s policies and procedures.
  • Participates in staff meetings, team meetings, clinical meetings, mandatory training sessions, and continuing education opportunities.
  • Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies.
  • Facilitates referrals to appropriate resources when indicated.
  • Completes billable/contracted clinical services as assigned.
  • When completing documentation for billable clinical services:
  • Develops and updates treatment plan and notation as appropriate
  • Responsible for accurate and timely documentation, which may include but is not limited to activity/progress notes, treatment plans, incident report forms, other forms as necessary
  • Completes documentation in the format appropriate and acceptable to Harbor

Provides Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment service activities, including but not limited to:

  • Evaluation: assesses client needs and creates treatment plan in conjunction with the client, family, and/or significant others; evaluates and revises treatment plan according to client responses and needs
  • Crisis prevention/intervention: follows crisis prevention/intervention protocols.
  • Ongoing interventions: provides support, education, and consultation to clients, families, and/or significant others; provides therapeutic interventions as noted in the treatment plan to maintain the client in the least restrictive environment and to enhance client and family functioning; monitors clients to identify and minimize effects of psychiatric/mental health symptoms; provides education on self-management of symptoms to clients, families, and/or significant others
  • Collaboration: Assists the client and family in increasing social support skills and networks; coordinated indicated evaluation and assessments by internal and/or external providers; coordinates and monitors all services identified in the treatment plan; provides assistance in gaining access to essential community resources

Provides individual and group Therapeutic Behavioral services, including by not limited to:

  • Treatment planning
  • Identification of strategies or treatment options
  • Developing and providing solution focused interventions and emotional and behavioral management draw from evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatments
  • Restoration of social skills
  • Restoration of daily functioning
  • Crisis prevention and amelioration
  • Group services
