Assured is on a mission to modernize insurance. Claims processing (i.e. should we pay this claim?), while often overlooked, is the foundation of the entire industry. It’s currently highly manual, involving phone calls, faxes, and gut instinct—costing tens of billions of dollars a year. We can do better.

At Assured, we provide large insurers with the software solutions they need to win in a modern, technology-driven world. From self-service claim filing software to backend fraud detection, we’re the engine that powers claims processing for some of the largest insurers in the world.

We are looking for a Director of Engineering to join our growing team!

You will...

Help build and lead a high-caliber team of engineers working on launching core products, software, and features while guiding their growth and success

Proactively anticipate and address challenges associated with rapid growth, such as scaling engineering teams, infrastructure, and processes

Provide team members with clear performance objectives and goals, offering effective feedback and coaching in their ongoing development

Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members to provide mentorship, guidance, and support for their professional growth while gathering feedback, addressing concerns, and aligning individual goals with team and company objectives.

Work closely with stakeholders and leaders to deliver software efficiently, safely, and predictably

Ensure that technical decisions meet our quality, performance, scalability, reliability, and security goals while promoting a high level of engineering excellence

Implement strategies for organizational scalability, including workforce planning, talent development, and resource allocation, to support sustained growth and innovation

Encourage a culture of collaboration throughout the organization, fostering alignment and promoting adaptability and resilience. Empower teams to navigate ambiguity with confidence, fostering a shared sense of responsibility and ownership

You have...

A proven track record of 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.

A background working at a high-growth scaling startup where you’ve grown and led teams

A knack for paying close attention to detail and a passion for building products to the highest standards across many dimensions (user experience, performance, reliability, security, etc.)

Skill in establishing goals and deliverables, and the ability to keep key partners informed throughout the product development lifecycle

Expertise in attracting, retaining, and growing phenomenal Software Engineering talent

Proficiency in defining your team’s vision and roadmap by thoroughly understanding our customers’ needs

Hands-on experience, ideally with TypeScript and GraphQL, to provide technical leadership and guidance to the team.

Compensation Range: $260K - $280K
