The CMTS Design Excellence team, comprised of Color, Materials, Trend, and Sustainability, sets the mood and vibe for the brand by defining uniquely Nike industry-leading creative strategies and directions that impact inline product creation.

Who We Are Looking For

The Trend Design Excellence team is looking for a Designer II who is inquisitive and curious; analytical and strategic; creative and future-thinking. In this role, you will assist in forecasting future design and product trends, inclusive of relevant thought starters, concepts and narratives for Footwear, Apparel, Accessories, Color, Materials, Print & Pattern. You will also help to build on key consumer insights, translating these into actionable solutions for Design.

What You Will Work On

If this is you, you will conduct research in support of establishing and dimensionalizing Nike's Creative Direction and Key Concepts. You will assist both seasonal work and project-specific work for sport categories across product design. Your work focuses on consistent research and collaborative review of design and lifestyle shifts, as well as tracking the trend-leading consumers driving change in sport and culture. You're a creative catalyst, ready to help fuel Nike Design teams with intelligence that will inspire them to generate sport and lifestyle products that lead the marketplace.

Who You Will Work With

You will report to the Senior Manager (Trend Design Excellence), while also working closely with the team's Lead and Senior Designers. This is a visible role that collaborates closely with Footwear, Apparel, Color, Materials, Graphics, Print & Pattern, and Concept Designers across Nike product creation teams. In addition, this team also works closely with the Consumer Insights and Analytics team.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in design or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

Experience

  • At least 1-2 years of design and/or product trend forecasting experience in agency or in-house setting or equivalent.
  • Understanding of the foundations of trend research.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and passion for sport and youth culture, as well as innate curiosity for the future.
  • Experienced understanding of design, fashion and street trends.
  • Strong curiosity, open minded, with a thirst to research and examine multiple sources for new creative ideas and intelligence.
  • Ability to conduct research -- both desk and field. As well as ability to travel for trend research.
  • Ability to connect dots and pattern-map in support of synthesizing research findings.
  • Skilled in moving between abstract and analytical thinking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience interviewing consumers is not essential but a desire to learn and develop this skill is.
  • Ability to work on your own and collaboratively in a diverse group.
  • Optimistic, positive and inclusive spirit with ability and desire to drive collaboration and inspire collective genius.
