As a part of the Mayor’s Office for Nonprofit Services (MONS), you will tackle key challenges nonprofits face when contracting with the city. The role is centered on solving problems such as inequitable access to contracts, particularly for smaller and BIPOC-led organizations, and addressing delays in payment processing that can jeopardize the sustainability of vital services. You will work on improving the capacity of nonprofits to manage contracts and operations, helping streamline city procurement processes, and ensuring that nonprofits have the tools and support they need to thrive in delivering essential services to New Yorkers.
Responsibilities
Working in close coordination with city agencies and oversight partners, the Deputy Director of Contracting will have wide latitude for independent action and decision-making in developing and managing the office’s collaboration with internal and external partners and stakeholders. Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. Responsibilities
Working in close coordination with city agencies and oversight partners, the Deputy Director of Contracting will have wide latitude for independent action and decision-making in developing and managing the office’s collaboration with internal and external partners and stakeholders. The Deputy Director of Contracting will perform the following job responsibilities, which include and are not limited to:
- Managing and helping to resolve contract and payment related issues for our nonprofit partners.
- Performing analytical tasks of contracting and invoice data, including running queries, conducting analyses, and developing reports using basic quantitative methods.
- Coordinating the implementation of interagency reforms to the procurement system, including project managing a wide array of initiatives and communicating updates to the nonprofit sector.
- Overseeing the development of legislative proposals, policies, and guidance as it relates to contracting and procurement.
- Managing the performance management tools and developing materials to communicate to executive leadership from City agencies, oversight agencies.
- Overseeing the implementation of the recommendations of the Joint Task Force to Get Nonprofits Paid on Time, including coordinating across city agencies, providing project management reports, tracking progress, and holding stakeholders accountable for advancing the work.
- Serving as co-chair of the MONS Advisory Council Procurement and Contracting subcommittee.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of strategies to improve equity and inclusion in City contracting with nonprofits.
- Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university?
- Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities?
- Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above?
- Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above?
