Description

Rausch Companies is seeking an experienced Chief Pilot & Director of Aviation. This hands-on leadership position requires a blend of technical and business experience in aviation. The Chief Pilot will provide day-today leadership for the pilot team to deliver excellent technical and operational performance needed to achieve department goals and the expected level of service. This includes training, aviation regulatory compliance, and aircraft operating standards to ensure safe, efficient, and timely air transportation for passengers. This is a leadership role that requires a high level of expertise in aviation, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for safety and operational excellence. The Chief Pilot will work closely with the executive team to develop and implement strategic plans, maintain regulatory compliance, and ensure the highest standards of flight safety.

This position is based in Fayetteville, AR.

Duties & Responsibilities

This position will include normal duties of a Chief Pilot and Director of Aviation in a Part 91 operation

including:

  • Monitoring aircraft status and coordinating with the Director of Maintenance the timely correction of mechanical irregularities and discrepancies in accordance with the AAIP or GMM as appropriate
  • Oversight and management of aviation administrative functions
  • File IFR flight plans with FSS, calculate weight/balance and fuel requirements prior to each flight segment and submit to the FAA all required reports pertaining to flight crews
  • Prepares and maintain proficiency records, pilot flight schedules, load manifest, and correspondence pertaining to flight operations activities
  • Ensures that all flight crew personnel are certified and supervised according to the requirements specified in the Federal Aviation Regulations in accordance with the approved training program.
  • Maintains required flight and duty records, instructing each crew member to complete the Aircraft Flight Log at the end of each duty period.
  • Lead, manage, and direct pilots to ensure the highest standards of safety, efficiency, professionalism, and quality of Flight Operations for the purpose of maintaining a high proficiency and safety level in all flight operations
  • Promote an environment focusing on Pilot professional development while fostering the company’s core values and culture throughout work environments
  • Maintain efficient communication with pilots and office staff concerning scheduling for company passengers and guests.
  • Identify hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and take appropriate action to maintain a safe and productive work environment for self and others
  • Develop and implement operational and administrative policies to align company policies and procedures with government (FAA) regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist in preparing an annual operating budget, which includes all operating expenses. Monitor operating budget monthly
  • Additional duties as required

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Aviation Director, Chief Pilot, Captain, or related air carrier management experience
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Must thoroughly be familiar with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Company Manuals, Operations Specifications, FAA and DOT regulations, and aviation safety standards
  • Must have demonstrated ability to accurately analyze and interpret technical procedures and regulations.
  • Minimum of 4,000 total flight time
  • Must be detail oriented, have a strong work ethic, and be capable of managing multiple tasks.
  • No chargeable accidents or violations
  • Current 2nd class medical or higher
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Overnight travel required, typically once a week
  • Excellent knowledge of Federal Aviation regulations and safety procedures
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, Multi-Engine Land (MEL) with appropriate ratings
  • Semi-annual training at Flight Safety International paid for by Rausch Companies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3000 hours of multi-engine, 2000 jet aircraft
  • Current FAA Certifications
  • Falcon 2000LX (DA-2EASy) type rating
  • At least 500 hours as PIC in Falcon 2000LX
  • Cessna Citation 525B type rating
  • At least 250 hours as PIC in a CJ3+ with Garmin 3000 Avionics package

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently moving small objects
