The Carelon Account Executive III is responsible for account management retention activities within an assigned book of business. This position will be dedicated to the West Region accounts. Individuals would have support and oversight of delegated operations to Carelon Behavioral Health and requirements related to delivery of behavioral health services in consideration of Commercial, Medicare and Medicaid requirements. Direct experience with Oregon and Washington's behavioral health landscape and systems structure strongly preferred.

How will you make an impact

  • Responsible for achieving client retention by identifying client strategy and developing deep familiarity with all aspects of client contracts including products, service levels, and client KPIs.
  • Responsible for P&L and operational management for a market in a large, highly complex state with multiple regional areas.
  • Foster collaboration with key stakeholders to develop account plans for each client and achieve shared goals.
  • Identify and execute cross-sell/upsell opportunities to achieve gross margin, P&L and EBITDA targets.
  • Understands and leverages data on account performance and provides input on the regional growth strategy each year.
  • Takes a lead role in client meetings, upsells and RFPs / Rebids.
  • Serves as liaison to Health Plan support services, which could include: Claims, Enrollment, Member Services, Network, Quality, Regulatory Compliance, NCQA Accreditation, IT, Reimbursement policy, etc.
  • Serves as a key client contact for independent resolution and innovation for client executive teams.
  • Lead and influence communications with C-suite leadership on company value proposition and alignment to client strategy.
  • Support a matrix environment and function including coordination and accountability between internal departments, ensuring the appropriate strategy, tactics and processes are in place to support DMHC requirements, and organizational operations and oversight.
  • Manage client expectations and negotiates mutually beneficial contract terms and deliverables with client team.
  • Champions change initiatives and tailors' style to meet client expectations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a BA/BS and a minimum of 8 years of experience working in a sales and/or account management, strategy, or sales support operations role;
  • Experience in the HMO/healthcare field, comprehensive knowledge of managed care delivery systems, quality of care initiatives, costs of care initiatives, contracting, servicing and operational aspects of a Health Plan; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, And Experiences

  • MBA or Master's degree preferred.
