Position Summary
This position involves a variety of repair and preventive maintenance duties primarily within the airport terminal building as well as general maintenance, including snow removal, around the exterior of the terminal. Emphasis is placed on the operation of building systems, independent and group work efforts, judicial use of time, and ability to complete work correctly in a timely manner. Most duties are performed independently, with the individual utilizing his/her own judgment and initiative to determine priorities and the proper course of action with little or no direct supervision. However, boiler and chiller work will be performed under direct supervision of a Building Engineer. Performance is reviewed by daily observation, occasional inspection of completed work, and oral and written reports.
This position is full-time, 40 hours per week with occasional mandatory overtime requiring some shift flexibility.

Essential Job Functions
- Perform preventive and routine maintenance and repairs on various mechanical equipment (HVAC system, plumbing, etc.).
- Work with outside contractors, as assigned, on maintenance of mechanical equipment and general building repairs.
- Prepare surfaces to be painted, knowing what type of paint to use on certain surfaces
- Perform maintenance, as required, throughout the terminal building and supporting facilities on a wide variety of items, such as lights, locksets, glass, doors, ceilings, elevators, escalators, security equipment, plumbing, emergency generator, fuel, electrical switchgear, sweeping, etc.
- Perform sweeping and/or vacuuming of dirt and debris around the exterior of the terminal building and supporting facilities.
- Perform snow removal and sweeping around the terminal building complex, including the front drive sidewalks and crosswalks, as well as around security gates and walkways on the airside of the terminal and other areas as directed.
- Coordinate tasks and work assignments with Building Engineers, other shifts, and departments, as necessary, to ensure continuity of operation of the terminal building and occasionally, other airport buildings.
- Professionally communicate, using company radio equipment, essential information to appropriate parties adhering to established protocols.
- Complies with the training and duty functions specified in the Airport Certification Manual and Airport Emergency Plan.
- High school diploma or GED certificate with ability to read and write.
- General maintenance ability to understand and make repairs to a wide variety of equipment and machinery (to be mechanically inclined).
- Ability to safely operate snow removal, sweeping, and vacuuming equipment.
- Ability to read and understand task procedures and instructional information regarding the proper operation of equipment and machinery.
- Ability to operate a computer, specifically that which controls the terminal building HVAC system.
- Ability to obtain a Non-Movement Area driver qualification within the probationary/qualification period and maintain the certification throughout employment.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Capable of producing desired results while effectively utilizing available resources.
- Consistently takes initiative and uses sound judgment when making decisions to benefit the organization.
- Ability to interact professionally in all situations.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Reliable, present and punctual in performing essential job functions.
- Ongoing learning and training to expand skill sets to adapt to existing and future organizational needs.
- Physical requirements include lifting and carrying heavy tools, equipment, and materials (sometimes weighing up to 50 pounds or more). Tasks include operating small snow/ice removal equipment on sidewalks, crosswalks and terminal ramp areas, moving equipment, repairing mechanical systems, and replacing large components such as HVAC units or generators. The job involves walking, standing, or working on tasks for extended periods, often in tight quarters or on rooftops.
