We are actively seeking Tech Privacy attorneys located anywhere in the United States with the following qualifications:

• 5-15 years’ experience as a practicing attorney, with 5+ of those years as a matter expert providing legal advice on privacy, security, and data protection regulations, including (but not limited to) GDPR, CCPA, state privacy laws, privacy impact assessments and development of frameworks, data-sharing and development of safeguards, and other related matters.
• Substantive data protection and data privacy experience and in-depth knowledge of U.S. and EU privacy statutes, including GDPR and CCPA.
• Knowledge of standardizing policies, protocols, and training programs, including the associated documents such as vendor and client contracts; includes guiding various stakeholders, such as business and product development, mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, and procurement.
• Expertise in drafting, negotiating, and revising privacy and data protection provisions of contracts and agreements.
• Vendor relationship management/contract negotiation on privacy issues relating to third-party data sharing arising from new products and features.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively partner with internal business clients, support staff, external resources, and other collaborators and provide guidance and pragmatic solutions.
• Excellent academic and law firm credentials, with experience in a dynamic in-house environment preferred.
• Active membership and good standing in the state bar of which you currently reside.
• Epiq Counsel partners with industry-leading clients in support of their sophisticated interim talent needs.
• Must be interested in practicing in an alternative, fixed-term legal services model.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• IAPP certification(s): CIPP, CIPM, CIPT strongly preferred.
• Experience of working in a multinational company and a complex, matrixed environment is a significant plus.
  
  

Join Our Industry-leading Client With The Following Responsibilities

• Dynamic project work that varies in length and is conducted remotely or on-site depending on client needs.
• Variable hours in a consultancy role; commitment may range from part-time to full-time based on project requirements.
• Professional immersion in diverse corporate cultures and industries.
• Provide knowledge and experience of building and maintaining privacy programs and/or controls.
• Monitor the evolution of the privacy regulatory landscape and escalate sector-specific laws, regulations and standards impacting the company.
• Provide business units and relevant supporting functions with expert advice, to design appropriate processes and controls to address/mitigate gaps and risks related to privacy by design and by default.
• Deliver project management leadership and support for complex business and privacy related projects, ensuring privacy requirements are prioritized at the very outset of any project and develop creative solutions to embed applicable privacy requirements in the business planning of commercial activities.
• Coordinate mapping and documentation of global products and services and provide business support for analysis of privacy assessments in line with applicable data protection laws.
• Develop and deliver training plans for related Business Units.
• Support privacy third-party assessments and transfer impact assessments.
• Detect and escalate potential vulnerabilities in clients products, services and digital solutions, which may expose them to complaints from data subjects or give rise to incidents and personal data breaches. Develop solutions to prevent such outcomes, in coordination with internal teams.
• Support the design and delivery of plans for privacy by design and by default compliance, auditing, and monitoring activities to assess the effectiveness and efficiency.
