Sutton's, a family-owned and operated home improvement firm located in Springfield, IL, is seeking an Accounts Payable employee to join our team. Established in the office we've occupied since the early 1970s on Springfield's North side, several Sutton family members continue to work in the business daily. We offer a small, family-oriented environment where individual performers have the opportunity to grow outside of corporate America. This role is critical to our continued success and hiring the right person is our highest priority.

- Oversee and maintain accounts payable processes efficiently using QuickBooks.

- Conduct training sessions on purchase order systems and ensure effective communication within teams.
- Handle accounts payable responsibilities for multiple entities and vendors, fostering strong relationships.
- Analyze workflow processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of bills and trade partners while adhering to financial guidelines.
- Process invoices, comparing purchase orders and ensuring accuracy in payment processing.
- Perform various accounting duties, including account maintenance and reconciliation.
- Manage special material orders and coordinate deliveries with vendors.

Baseline Requirements:
- A clean background check to ensure the safety and trustworthiness for our vendors, staff, and customers.
- A valid driver's license.
- A high school diploma or equivalent; further education or certifications in related fields are a plus but not mandatory.
- A professional appearance, reflecting the quality and integrity of the Sutton's brand.
- A minimum of three years of experience in accounts payable or closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience in accounts payable with proficiency in QuickBooks.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in numerical analysis.
- Goal-oriented mindset with the ability to meet deadlines and targets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach.
- Organized and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
