The Mercantile, located across the street from our Mt. Airy store, sells a mix of vintage furniture, handmade pottery, jewelry, artwork, candles, and more!

Join us as our Mercantile Cashier!

We are looking for an energetic, community-oriented, and experienced individual to work as a Cashier at our Mercantile (Mt. Airy) location. This position is low-time with an anticipated 8-10 hours per week. Weekend availability is required. If you have retail management experience, a keen eye for vintage goods, and a passion for finding hidden gems, then we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist customers with product selection and inquiries
  • Operate the cash register and handle financial transactions accurately
  • Stock shelves and maintain merchandise displays according to store standards
  • Monitor inventory levels and report low-stock items
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and organizing backstock
  • Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the store and display areas
  • Support promotional events and seasonal merchandising efforts
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
Requirements:
  • A commitment to the mission and goals of Weavers Way Co-op.
  • Weekend availability is required, with flexibility for the occasional weekday.
  • At least 6 months of customer service experience
  • Prior retail is a plus
  • Interest in antiques is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems
  • Friendly, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Be, or become upon hiring, a member in good standing of Weavers Way Co-op.
