Do you have a passion for coaching young people to help them achieve their goals?

Community Action is currently looking for a Youth Homeless Demonstration Program Coach/Navigator to provide education, information, trauma-informed, strengths-based coaching and navigation to youth participants.

Starting Pay: $21.60/hour

The Role

  • Provide trauma-informed, strength-based case management, grounded in Motivational Interviewing, to youth participants;
  • Collaboratively work with youth/young adults to identify their unique goals, develop skills, and access needed support and plans to achieve the desired outcomes;
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with community partners
  • Collaboratively work with The HUB to assist youth participants in their search for housing and work to build strong relationships with landlords in the community to form collaborative partnerships for housing participants;
  • Research and maintain current information regarding landlord and tenant issues, update educational materials as needed;
  • Conduct tenant education classes for youth related to tenant rights and obligations in the state of Nebraska;
  • Participate in the Lincoln RentWise Coalition and conduct RentWise workshops and training;

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in human services or related field required.
  • Two years relevant work experience required.
  • Training or experience with legal terminology, statutory language, landlord/tenant laws, government and community resources; housing counseling; housing budgeting.
  • Strong verbal and written proficiencies of the English language required.
  • Valid Nebraska Driver’s License and good driving record required.
  • Must have knowledge of community resources.
  • Must be able to approach and communicate with a wide range of personalities in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must have skill in organizing personal work schedule.
