Provide environmental leadership for the Wood Products division to ensure 100% regulatory compliance. This includes providing environmental support and guidance to mill managers and their environmental teams as they execute environmental programs and processes at the mill level.

Divisional Environmental Management
- Set expectations and provide support to mills in the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of environmental programs to ensure Division-Wide compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permit requirements.
- Collaborate with mill managers to ensure mill maintenance practices are in place that result in consistent performance of boilers, RTO’s, and pollution abatement equipment.
- Provide mills with QA/QC review of key regulatory report submittals and oversight on agency correspondence/communications.
- Ensure the complete, accurate and timely preparation of permit applications and permit modifications for manufacturing process changes and additions.
- Review capital projects and assess for environmental impact. Provide review, evaluation and technical planning for mill projects that have an environmental impact.
- Track and maintain working knowledge of state and federal regulations; support mills with identifying and meeting applicable regulatory requirements.
- Lead the planning and execution of regulatory required testing as needed (air emissions, water quality waste characterizations); interpret results, and prepare or oversee the preparation of test reports.
- Manage and/or perform environmental compliance audits at mills. Complete follow up with mills as necessary to ensure audit findings are prioritized and addressed.
- Development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of Division-Wide environmental compliance tracking process and compliance improvement programs. Assist mills in identifying any potential issues and providing support for resolution.
- Ensure maintenance of regulatory compliance plans, permits and procedures across the Division.
- Ensure regulatory recordkeeping requirements are met across the Division.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to address regulatory or compliance issues.
- Develop and oversee a cost-effective division environmental budget. Provide oversight to the mills for cost effective environmental budgeting and adherence to the budgets.
- Assess and streamline the use of third-party consultants across the organization.
- Primary business owner of the environmental compliance and reporting system (VelocityEHS). Ensure system is meeting division needs and develop recommendations for improvements.
- Lead divisional efforts for GHG emission reduction program. Establish targets and goals that enable division to reach Scope 1 and Scope 2 emission reduction targets by 2030 and a net zero goal by 2050.
- Lead division efforts for energy and water reduction programs to achieve 1% year over year reduction through 2030.
- Provide expertise and support to address legacy environmental issues for the corporation.
- Provide expertise and support to industry trade associations and serve on committees as needed.
- Develop and conduct technical and environmental program training for the mill managers and the Division-Wide environmental team members to ensure knowledge and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with mill leadership to create professional development plans for the Division-Wide environmental team members. Provide mentoring and coaching as needed for these team members.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ leadership experience in the environmental field and regulatory interfacing. Preference to wood or panel products, biomass, and pulp and paper industries.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Power Point, and Environmental Protection Agency Data Submission Software
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with the mill personnel, regulatory agencies, and the public.
- Clearly demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence multiple stakeholders to execute environmental initiatives.
- Proven ability to interpret, develop, and provide training regarding environmental regulations, rules, manuals, and policies.
- Proven ability to engage with third-party consultants and regulatory organizations to achieve desired compliance outcomes.

- Extended computer work.
- Required travel off–site and over-night trips. Travel estimated at 40%.
