Description

Located in Lexington, KY or New York, NY, this role reports directly to the Managing Director of Operations. The responsibilities of the VP/Director of Operations – Restructuring & Turnarounds include the following:

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Develop and execute comprehensive restructuring and turnaround plans
  • Identify and implement cost reduction and efficiency improvement strategies
  • Conduct thorough assessments of financial and operational performance
  • Drive improvements in liquidity management and cash forecasting
  • Negotiate with vendors and customers on behalf of the portfolio company

Board & C-Suite Collaboration

  • Collaborate with portfolio company boards and executive teams to align on strategic priorities and action plans
  • Provide expert guidance and support to C-suite executives during restructuring processes
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure successful execution of initiatives

Performance Improvement

  • Analyze and optimize key business processes to drive operational excellence
  • Monitor and track performance metrics to measure the impact of restructuring efforts
  • Implement best practices and industry benchmarks to improve business outcomes

Change Management

  • Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth transitions during restructuring phases
  • Develop communication plans to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged
  • Address resistance to change and foster a culture of continuous improvement

Financial Oversight

  • Oversee financial restructuring activities, including debt refinancing and capital structure optimization
  • Work closely with financial teams to ensure accurate reporting and compliance
  • Identify opportunities for value creation through strategic financial planning and analysis

Due Diligence And Risk Management

  • Conduct due diligence on potential acquisition targets
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with restructuring and turnaround activities
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential challenges and setbacks

Leadership And Team Development

  • Build a high-performing operations team dedicated to restructuring and turnarounds
  • Develop restructuring and turnaround playbook outlining specific activities to be taken during the phases of a restructuring situation
  • Establish a scorecard to monitor portfolio performance for potential companies that will require restructuring and turnaround support due to decline in performance and covenant default
  • Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and capabilities
  • Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and excellence

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, engineering, or related field required; advanced degree preferred
  • 8+ years experience in restructuring, turnarounds, and operational improvement within a private equity or consulting environment
  • Strong financial acumen and expertise in financial restructuring and performance optimization
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to navigate complex and dynamic business environments
  • Track record of successfully collaborating and partnering with boards and C-suite executives to drive value creation
