The Role: The VP, Product & Portfolio Management in Advanced Compute Solutions is responsible for the overall lifecycle of ACS core hardware products, which includes the HP Workstation portfolio.

Summary: Responsible for driving the overall vision, roadmap, and product-market fit for HP's workstation products, with a strong focus on disciplined product lifecycle management and successful new product introductions. This role is accountable for delivering profitable growth while maintaining sustained HP differentiation across the product portfolio. Additionally, it involves creating go-to-market messaging and training materials, and managing ongoing engagement with Category teams and regional markets to ensure alignment and execution.

This position is committed to understanding and addressing market/customer leads, driving a team of product management professionals, as well as collaborating with customers, alliance partners and internal stakeholders to ensure coordinated execution in all matters of product management. This person is an excellent leader and communicator, as well as a developer of product management talent within and across product lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for life cycle management of the product/services/solutions (PSS) lines from development, launch, refresh to obsolescence.
  • Accountable for leading ACS Product and Portfolio Management organization by setting overall initiatives, allocating financial and human capital for programs and projects, and ensuring timely and effective delivery of product, solutions, and services marketing programs.
  • Defines and continually refines the product roadmap, synthesizing customer insights, market input, technology roadmaps, and all initiatives for operational excellence.
  • Strategy development and thought leadership: demonstrate advanced knowledge in the domain of expertise in defining a strategy to win – the ‘why HP’ drivers of differentiation and scale.
  • Responsible for Customer Journey Mapping process to ensure we are delivering important and meaningful customer value across the portfolio. This will include close collaboration with the ACS Solutions team to ensure the overall product/software/solution offering delivers differentiated value to customers.
  • Plan and deliver on portfolio which includes all core HW and product experiences, requiring strong collaboration with SW/solutions/services partners inside and outside of ACS and aligned with the strategy to win in the market.
  • Requires strong and close collaboration with the PS Commercial business to ensure we continue to deliver consistent commercial capabilities across our workstation portfolio.
  • Monitors market trends, analyzes competitors’ offerings, and solicits input from customers, partners, sales teams for product planning and design.
  • Provides thought-leadership on new ACS core hardware offerings as well as refreshes.
  • Responsible for long–term business forecasting and marketing budget recommendations.
  • Coordinates creation of training materials and regularly evangelizes key value propositions both internally and externally.
  • Leads the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems, procedures, and policies; identifies consequences of decisions on a global level and recommends appropriate solutions and areas for improvement.
  • Consults with business leaders at the L2 and L1 levels to drive and influence strategic decision-making within a broad scope (e.g., mitigating risk, approving significant programs/deals).
  • Ensures that the marketing strategies and initiatives within area of accountability are integrated with corporate and business strategies.
  • May be responsible for significant dotted-line employee reporting relationships.

Education And Experience Required

  • First level university degree with a focus in Marketing, Business, or Engineering; advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Typically, 12+ years of experience in product marketing or exhibiting an exceptionally strong background in some other relevant and applicable area of business.
  • Preferred 8+ years of people management experience.

Knowledge And Skills

  • Strong communication skills with a particular focus on the ability to communicate with and synthesize insights from customers, IT decision makers, and channel partners.
  • Excellent ability to provide HPS/ACS product marketing recommendations to senior managers within area of expertise.
  • Understanding of the workstation business, customer verticals, and RTM segments (enterprise, SMB, Public Sector, and etail)
  • Deep understanding of industry trends and business unit to create a value proposition for the business unit and a product vision
  • Ability to clearly communicate strategy and complex concepts, ideas, and alternatives
  • Strong analytical skills, structured thinking and problem-solving skills to direct team and key partners on strategic priorities for the business
  • Superior understanding of product design and current product management.
  • In-depth experience working with Sales, Category, Marketing, R&D and customers.
  • Strong ability to influence for results across business and function boundaries
  • Excellent project management and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent people management skills, including managing teams across geographies.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and strong partnerships with internal and external partners
  • Excellent consulting, influencing, and negotiation skills.

The pay range for this role is $ 250k to $350k USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
