The Role

We’re looking for a strategic finance lead to take ownership of all financial planning, forecasting, and strategic decision support at Sourgum. In this role, you’ll build and manage our financial models, develop insights that drive executive decisions, and partner with department leads to guide our growth. You’ll also oversee the work of our internal accounting team and our external tax partners to ensure accurate reporting and operational excellence.

This executive role is critical to our continued growth and success, providing leadership in budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and financial reporting

This role is 5 days a week in-office, based out of our HQ in Jersey City, NJ.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Own company-wide financial reporting, ensuring timely, accurate, and insightful analysis for executive leadership and board meetings
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that support short-term and long-term business goals
  • Oversee accounting, treasury, tax, audit, and internal controls
  • Drive automation and process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability
  • Evaluate capital structure and fundraising strategy, including investor relations***
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators and provide data-driven recommendations to drive profitability and growth
  • Partner cross-functionally with executive leadership to align financial goals with operational priorities
  • Develop board reporting and monthly/quarterly internal finance reporting to drive accountability and transparency
  • Drive investor reporting, fundraising modeling, and financial due diligence as needed

The Qualifications You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA strongly preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in strategic finance or FP&A, with at least 2 years in a senior finance role
  • Proven experience managing financial operations in a growth-stage company
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting
  • Ability to distill complex financial concepts into clear, actionable insights for leadership and board audiences
  • Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills; experience with modern FP&A tools a plus
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment
