The Vice President, Technology will be a collaborative member of our leadership team, ensuring our technical capabilities support business and fan experience goals. In this role, you will influence not only technology, but also our organizational culture, community engagement, and the Orioles’ broader business strategy. Position Overview

The Vice President, Technology guides the strategy and leads execution for all technology initiatives across the Orioles’ business and venue operations. We are seeking not just a technical expert, but a leader who will share insights drawn from their own career and life journey, and who values the power of diverse perspectives in shaping our future. You will work closely with executive leadership, bringing a future-focused mindset and a collaborative approach to align technical capabilities with organizational objectives. By integrating your expertise and lived experience into our decision-making and culture, you will help guide the organization toward success. While this position does not make decisions for baseball operations or analytics, you will ensure robust, secure, and scalable technology platforms empower every team. You will also oversee all aspects of ballpark venue technology—making Camden Yards a welcoming, accessible, engaging, and innovative destination for all.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Collaboration:
Serve as a thought partner on the leadership team; align technology strategy with organizational goals; guide digital transformation to support both business and baseball success.

Strategic Planning & Budgeting: Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and alignment with organizational priorities.

Change Management & Communication: Champion change management initiatives and communicate technology vision and strategy to stakeholders at all levels, fostering organizational buy-in and adoption.

Venue Technology Strategy & Oversight: Lead strategy and operations for all ballpark technologies (IT, Wi-Fi, AV, security, POS, IPTV, signage, broadcast, etc.) to create a seamless, accessible, and engaging experience for all fans and staff. Evaluate and implement emerging venue technologies such as contactless payments, smart entry, and interactive fan engagement platforms.

Innovation & Futureproofing: Explore and pilot emerging technologies; maintain a multi-year technology roadmap; foster a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and openness to new ideas. Build partnerships with industry leaders, startups, and academic institutions to support innovation.

Technology Foundation & Enablement: Build and maintain secure, adaptable systems and data platforms to support both business and baseball operations.

Fan & Employee Experience: Collaborate with marketing and operations to create engaging digital and in-person experiences, ensuring every touchpoint is welcoming and empowering. Oversee the development of mobile apps, in-stadium technologies, and other fan-focused solutions.

Help Desk Oversight: Oversee the IT help desk to ensure timely, effective support for day-to-day staff technology needs, including incident management, troubleshooting, and user assistance. Monitor help desk performance, foster a service-oriented culture, and ensure continuous improvement in support processes

Data, Analytics & AI: Ensure technology infrastructure supports advanced analytics and AI initiatives; enable data-informed decision-making across the organization. Develop and implement an AI strategy that prioritizes ethical use and compliance.

Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and support a high-performing, diverse technology team. Set clear goals, provide professional development, and manage technology budgets.

Cybersecurity, Compliance & Risk: Oversee cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance for all technology systems. Ensure adherence to MLB, legal, and data privacy regulations. Lead efforts to protect sensitive data for the organization, players, and fans through robust, proactive practices.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with key vendors, league partners, and stakeholders. Serve as the primary contact for technology-related contracts and agreements, collaborating closely with procurement on purchase negotiations and ensuring alignment with organizational policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years in technology leadership, including 5+ at the executive level
  • Experience in sports, entertainment, hospitality, convention center, or large public venue industries is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to lead innovation, venue technology, and digital transformation
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud computing, enterprise software, and emerging technologies (AI, IoT, machine learning, etc.)
  • Experience with industry systems (e.g., POS, ticketing, access, AV, security, digital signage) and fan engagement technologies
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts in clear, accessible language
  • Strong project management skills and a focus on achieving results
  • Willingness to be available on-call, including some weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
  • This is an in-person, workplace-based leadership role at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland, where you will collaborate daily with colleagues and contribute to our on-site community.
