Position Summary

The VP of Operations is a key leadership role (and part of our Senior Leadership Team), responsible for managing multiple practices, overseeing our operational staff responsible for delighting patients; this includes Practice Managers, Health Concierges, Care Navigators and Mobile MA/RN teams to ensure smooth operations across all clinical and supporting aspects. The VP of Operations is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient experiences and optimizing practice performance in line with Ascend Medical’s mission to elevate mind, body, and soul.

You’re a Great Fit for This Role If You Can:

  • Elevate Team Performance: Ideal candidates will come with ready-made playbooks in driving practice performance across productivity, efficiency and revenue capture. You will develop a culture of performance, with clear performance metrics, regular huddles and training for leaders and staff to continually enhance their ability to perform.
  • Lead & Develop Diverse Teams (both clinical & operational): Seamlessly oversee the daily operations of multiple practices, ensuring positive patient experiences, high team satisfaction, happy providers, workplace efficiency, and top-tier service delivery. Strong candidates will be good listeners and naturally empathetic, creating a collaborative and supportive environment that fosters professional growth and exceptional performance.
  • Drive practice P&L: Be accountable for growing existing practices and minimizing expenses so as to maximize profitability
  • Implement Operational Standards: Establish, communicate, and enforce policies, practices, and standards to maintain consistent, efficient, and effective operations across all teams. Embed best practices into EMR workflows where possible.
  • Integrate new practices: Work closely with the Integration team to determine how newly acquired practices should be integrated into Ascend’s ecosystem and partner with physician owners to hand off management of their practices to Ascend.
  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership & Transformation Team: Work closely with senior leaders and Transformation Team to develop and achieve company goals, providing operational expertise and guidance on key projects and systems.
  • Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Proactively address operational challenges, including equipment issues, patient complaints, inefficiencies, and workplace conflicts, ensuring smooth and continuous operations.
  • Own Healthcare Compliance Protocols: Ensure that all practices not only meet but exceed the latest regulatory healthcare standards, maintaining a culture of compliance and safety across the organization. By staying ahead of regulatory changes, you'll protect our patients and team members while supporting Ascend Medical's commitment to excellence.

Requirements

Qualifications:

The Ideal Candidate Will Offer

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, other related field. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry-related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of practice management experience (primary care a plus).

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Self-starter that is impatient with current state and unafraid to jump in and make things better
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills; experience in conflict resolution.
  • Natural gravitas.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent in managing physicians – balancing respect with polite encouragement to harness collaboration and positive change
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the healthcare industry – most notably in primary care practice excellence.
  • Experience managing multiple practices (5+) across a region.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with EMR software (Athena preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
