Vice President of Strategic Initiatives & M&A
This role is with a private equity backed, leading provider of water and wastewater control and monitoring solutions. This platform delivers specialized products and integrated systems that address complex automation challenges. With national operations across two complementary divisions and an active acquisition pipeline, this company has entered a new phase of growth. This executive will partner directly with the CEO to lead the strategic agenda and M&A function—spearheading key initiatives that will shape the future of the company.
This high-impact role offers meaningful visibility across the organization and a unique opportunity to shape enterprise strategy, lead transformative projects, and execute on acquisition opportunities critical to long-term success.
Geography
This is a remote role with flexibility on location. Travel is expected as much as 50%+, including regular visits to operating locations and target companies.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, supporting business strategy, executive communications, and critical enterprise initiatives.
- Lead strategic planning processes, foster executive alignment, and oversee cross-functional execution of priority goals.
- Manage a portfolio of company-wide strategic projects, driving operational excellence and value creation.
- Prepare and present board-ready materials and strategic performance updates, highlighting risks and opportunities.
- Lead the end-to-end M&A lifecycle, from deal sourcing and evaluation through due diligence, deal structuring, and integration.
- Cultivate and manage a robust M&A pipeline by building relationships with founders, bankers, investors, and intermediaries.
- Coordinate cross-functional diligence teams spanning finance, legal, operations, and external advisors.
- Serve as the primary liaison with acquisition targets, including founder-led and less sophisticated sellers.
- Negotiate transaction terms and lead post-close integration efforts to capture synergies and maximize deal value.
- Provide leadership and guidance to key functions such as Marketing and PMO Integration; spearhead the rollout of the company’s Lean Operating System and Value Creation Plan (VCP).
- 10+ years of experience in top-tier management consulting strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated track record in driving transformational initiatives and leading M&A transactions in fast-growing, complex operational settings.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing diverse, cross-disciplinary project teams.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging with executives and board members.
- Experience working within or alongside private equity-backed organizations highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- Highly adaptable with a readiness to travel regularly as business demands.
