The Orthopedic Urgent Care Physician Assistant plays a crucial role within our dynamic healthcare team, providing high-quality orthopedic care in a fast-paced urgent care environment. This position demands a skilled and compassionate clinician who can deliver effective patient care, manage acute orthopedic injuries, and work collaboratively with orthopedic surgeons and medical staff. The successful candidate will possess a strong foundation in orthopedic principles and practices, allowing them to assess, diagnose, and treat a spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions. Our contributions to medical education and research are extensive, with numerous ongoing studies and over 150 medical students hosted in the past decade. Many of our physicians hold teaching positions at the Medical College of Georgia, where they play a pivotal role in training and preparing the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.

Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient evaluations and assessments in accordance with established protocols.
- Diagnose and manage acute orthopedic conditions, providing prompt care for injuries such as fractures, sprains, and dislocations.
- Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons and medical staff to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
- Perform procedures such as joint injections, aspirating effusions, and applying casts or splints as necessary.
- Educate patients and their families about orthopedic conditions, treatment options, and rehabilitation protocols.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient encounters, treatments, and follow-up care in the electronic health record system.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and contribute to enhancing patient care and service delivery within the orthopedic department.
Requirements
Requirements and Qualifications
- Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited program.
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Minimum of two years of experience in orthopedic urgent care or a related field preferred.
- Strong clinical skills and ability to perform orthopedic assessments and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment and manage high patient volumes under pressure.
