This role will involve a wide range of responsibilities, from overseeing the design process to engaging with community members and collaborating with various stakeholders. Reporting directly to leadership, this position will play a crucial role in shaping the built environment and advancing urban projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analyze current and future urban development trends and best practices.
- Develop and present design proposals and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
- Manage design projects from concept through to implementation, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Utilize GIS and other analytical tools to gather data and create visual representations of design concepts.
- Stay informed on industry developments to improve design processes and outcomes.
- Build partnerships with external organizations to leverage resources and expertise.
- Mentor junior staff and interns, providing guidance and support.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and standards in design proposals.
- Organize and participate in community engagement events to gather feedback on design projects.
- Collaborate with community partners and city departments to integrate design projects.
- Maintain accurate records of projects and activities.
- Engage in professional development to enhance urban planning and design skills.
- Utilize various software platforms (e.g., GIS, Salesforce, CoStar, etc.) to manage and analyze data.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors, including contract development.
- Analyze data from various sources to create reports and visual presentations.
- Conduct mapping and analysis of municipal, demographic, real estate, and transportation data.
- Update and maintain urban planning and demographic information on the organization's website.
- Design and conduct surveys, summarizing data in clear and accessible formats.
- Evaluate project workflows, methodologies, and performance to improve future initiatives.
- Manage data collection, quality management, reporting, and analysis.
- Review municipal tax maps and identify stakeholders within improvement districts.
- Study trends and prepare reports based on complex data and research.
- Represent the organization on boards, committees, and in discussions with city officials, staff, and community groups.
- Bachelors degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Policy, Engineering, or related field.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS is required.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, Salesforce, District360, and CoStar preferred.
- Experience with statistical software (e.g., R, Strata, Excel, SPSS) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of confidentiality and data management.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage projects within scope, time, and budget.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn new technology quickly.
- Must be adaptable, able to multi-task, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to contribute to the success of the organization.
