Volunteers are at the heart of our mission—bringing comfort, dignity, and compassion to those we serve. We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Coordinator to help grow and lead our volunteer program.

Position Summary

The Volunteer Coordinator plays a vital role in recruiting, training, and supporting hospice volunteers who provide companionship, support, and comfort to patients and their families. This is an unpaid volunteer position, ideal for someone passionate about service, with strong organizational skills and a heart for hospice care.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, screen, and train new volunteers in alignment with hospice policies and regulations.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules to ensure coverage for patient and family needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of volunteer hours, activities, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide ongoing support, encouragement, and recognition to hospice volunteers.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary hospice team to match volunteers with appropriate assignments.
  • Develop creative ways to engage and retain volunteers.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and hospice accreditation standards.


Qualifications

  • Prior volunteer management or leadership experience preferred (but not required).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and able to work with sensitivity in end-of-life care settings.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, email).
  • Ability to commit to a flexible schedule of :10 to 15 hours per week (in-office and/or remote support).
